We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Serena Nour a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Serena thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
The first dollar my business owned was from a family member which made me so happy. I remember using that $20 to purchase boxes and things to label my boxes with. I just remember how excited I was seeing the labels with my logo on them, it felt so surreal!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Serena N. and I have a business called Dipped With Love TX. I specialize in making customized chocolate covered fruit and sweets for any occasion. Dipped With Love Tx first began in 2019 and we have been working on expanding and growing ever since! I got into the sweets business after never feeling like I could find a good gift for family and friends, but not only that, good service and customization. I began scrolling through Instagram and it hit me. I wanted to create something special: something that would put a smile on anyone’s face. Years later Dipped With Love came to be the top-rated sweets to try in Mansfield, Texas. We are currently home-based hoping to expand in the near future.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Building trust and a proper reputation is something that does not happen overnight nor in a year or two. Every day is another opportunity to build a better reputation than yesterday and grow your clientele. My advice to building a proper reputation is to put yourself in your customer’s position. Treat them with respect and do exactly as they ask. I always ask for pictures before doing their order and feedback after doing their order. I ask this because it is crucial to have constructive criticism and reviews from your customers in order to grow as a business.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Two books that have truly helped me understand business skills and communication with others is, “Skill With People” and “The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It”. I am not the best at reading books, but when I do I reread these books over again.
