We recently connected with Serena Loren and have shared our conversation below.
Serena, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Two things my parents did right when raising me were instilling a strong work ethic in my sisters and I as well as encouraging spirituality and a connection with God. If there was something that I wanted, they taught me I had to work hard in order to provide it for myself. They taught me the general understanding that cosmic and supernatural forces are at play on this Earth and that for me to live a purposeful, meaningful life I had to connect to that. In my understanding and my teaching, it has been of God the Holy Spirit.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started my healing journey at the age of 19 when I discovered a wheat/gluten intolerance. It was imperative that I changed my eating habits because I was truly facing potential death and decay with my lack of eating since everything made me feel sick. I also had a toxic relationship to food because I used eating as a method of control in the midst of chaotic times during familial struggles as well as being in an abusive relationship. Fast forward, I got into the body building industry purely on a whim that stemmed from exercising solely for endorphins when I was at an extreme low in my life last year, mentally/emotionally and physically. I did really well competing my first season and turned pro at my second show ever. I’m proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and for committing to doing all the work my vision for myself required. I wanted to do something profound in my life to make a name for myself and truly believe I have found my purpose through fitness and the platform it has granted me to reach others. I want to inspire people to heal and take the best care of themselves.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Staying true to myself. Remaining authentic. Trusting my intuition. Having discernment throughout every step of the way. Treating others with love and kindness unconditionally. And most importantly maintaining my faith in God.

Any advice for managing a team?
Make sure you all have the same vision, values, and goals for the brand as a whole. Hear everyone out, practice active listening. Build solid connections and trust in people who are truly on your team by showing their support for you.
