Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Seraphina Black. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Seraphina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I have always wanted to get into modeling and photography. Even as a child I thought that it was something I would do one day. It took me most of my life to get over what was holding me back – myself. I cared too much about what others might think, and I was always extremely shy.
Several years ago I made a choice to fully commit to my dreams. I decided then and there I would pursue the things I had always kept myself from. I didn’t know how far any of it would or would not take me, but no matter what I wanted to be able to say that I gave it my all.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m an alternative model.
As an alternative model, I make it a goal to stay away from the typical, mainstream idea of models and beauty. I like to be edgy and I push my boundaries with every shoot. My favorite thing is to come up with a wide variety of new and different types of photoshoots. I seek to provide what you won’t see everyday. I am very proud of the work I do and and how far I have come.
Every day I learn new things and use them in future projects. I like every set to be its own work of art while representing my best self. I try to always be bold and edgy, while keeping my content positive. My goal is to inspire people to get outside of their comfort zones and be the version of themselves they have always dreamed of being.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I started this journey before Covid hit, and continuing through the pandemic was very challenging. I have had many things in life try to slow me down, but the challenge is never letting it. The last couple years I have dealt with a very serious health condition, but I have never once let it stop me. When you want something badly enough, you find that well of strength you never even knew you had, and you keep pushing.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
As aforementioned, I was always very shy and timid. I still am sometimes. Working in this industry, that is the one thing a person cannot be. Modeling has taught me that I have to be bold, get outside my comfort zone, and not give a single thought as to what others may think.
Living in a time when people are constantly watching and judging everyone else can make that a huge challenge. Every day I remind myself to be authentic and bold; a person doesn’t get seen by hiding.
