We were lucky to catch up with Se’Quan Tutt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Se’Quan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? The world needs to hear more realistic, actionable stories about this critical part of the business building journey. Tell us your scaling up story – bring us along so we can understand what it was like making the decisions you had, implementing the strategies/tactics etc.
Tutt launched his first company, King’s Touch Image Consulting, as a fashion stylist in 2019. He dove right in and took on every responsibility for his company. This provided Tutt with the chance to investigate every requirement for running a successful business. He could now start mentoring other business owners and entrepreneurs on how to start their brand or firm from scratch thanks to this window. Tutt also started making websites and graphics for customers.
After years of expanding his customers and business, Tutt decided to shut down the King’s Touch brand. Trying to manage everything at once while putting in a lot of effort for clients that didn’t regard him became quite challenging. He lost sight of his brand’s identity and vision, which caused many errors. In order to continue doing what he liked while also being regarded and valued for his work, he decided to rethink his strategy. He took a short break, returned to the drawing board, and created his new company, House of Tutt Consulting Firm.
With his new brand, he now has organization and a sense of harmony throughout the entire business. All clients must now adhere to the attitude and ambiance of his brand. Yet another benefit of the new brand are his new employees. Now that House of Tutt is operating out of two states, Tutt is able to work on even more projects. His ability to provide his clientele with an even better level of class and luxury has increased as a result of this growth.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Tutt’s initial financial investment was made with money he had saved during his time working for the government, which he did before quitting and launching his first company. His ability to launch his second business, which specialized in website development and graphics, came about as a result of the success of his first venture. He launched a fedora hat business after seeing the same success with his previous venture. He still had adequate cash flow even after liquidating all three businesses to put money into House of Tutt.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
As a business owner, it is your responsibility to support your team members in completing duties in a way that is effective, dependable, and consistent with the company’s overarching strategic goals. To do this, you must clearly state the strategic goals you have in mind, along with the actions and procedures your team will need to take to get there. Clear communication within the team about tasks, due dates, and objectives ensures success. A team may concentrate on productivity and collaboration with this transparency. On the other hand, ineffective team digital communication management depresses worker morale and productivity.
The backbone of your company is the morale of your employees. You cannot afford to take an organization’s leadership lightly. Avoid attempting to brush problems under the rug. Build trust instead by being open about what’s happening and what you’re doing to address it. Employee morale is only high when they feel cared for by their employer. Tutt will suggest a few things, like one-on-one meetings, fostering a healthy work environment, maintaining open lines of communication, and empower your team often.
