We were lucky to catch up with Señoj Jones recently and have shared our conversation below.
Señoj, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Currently I am working on my first project that I’ll ever have the world hear. It’s a beautiful process because after all of these years, you get to hear what I feel is the most important in my life now. My fans have heard songs that play out how I’m feeling at the moment but never everything all together like this. It’s nerve wrecking to put myself out there like that but at the end of the day I do music to satisfy my inner self. As long as I’m true to who I am and what I do, the rest will follow.

Señoj, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started singing when I was young. I auditioned for my first broadway show at 7 and that’s when I started doing broadway up until I was a teen. Once I stopped doing broadway I wondered what to do next which is when I discovered I liked to write music. I started writing music and got into Grammy camp when I was in high school and that’s when I realized I really wanted to have music as a career of mine. After high school I started to pursue a career as an artist. Since then it’s been an uphill battle but one thing I noticed is I’ve never given up
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Honestly, my goal with music has changed since I was young. Although I want to be widely known for my music one day my dreams of becoming a superstar for everyone has changed to creating a career I can be proud of because I’m using my God given gift. I want to make it in music because I want people out there to know they relate to me and I also just want to keep feeding my inner child by getting all of my ideas out in the studio

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist has to be knowing that there’s a whole group of people out there in the world who don’t know me personally but still support what I do because it resonates with them. Once we all stop making music for numbers and start making music from the heart and for ourselves, everything else will follow.
