We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sena Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sena, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
When I first started my journey it was because I realized as an adult often we are the product of our environment, our social and economical status and our family bloodline. But what I didn’t know was who I actually was or what I wanted to do in life. I realized that not only did I suffer from what I called was Identity crisis that countless others did and it all began from childhood. As children we use our imagination to build what we think at that time as our purpose. As a kid all I heard or saw was women mostly in the field of sales, beauty or healthcare. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I realized I love helping others and showing them its more to life than that. I realize that we have to show children in adults that you are capable of anything that you put your mind and heart to do. My journey to being a entrepreneur came from a simple prayer that my First Lady Apostle Darlyn Turner prayed over me to no longer be confused of my purpose. My eyes were open and I immediately began shifting my mindset to teach children and adults to live a life of purpose. To understand that they are royalty and that they can use their passion to build up others.

Sena, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My first business which is Children of the King Daycare LLC was started when a group of friends suggested I open a daycare. They told me how good I was with kids and said Sena you will be great. I never ran a daycare so I wasn’t sure what or where to start. I began doing research and studying the field. Once I started there, I just prayed and ask God for a name and the mission behind it and that’s how that was birth. With real estate it started as me being a client trying to purchase a home and having countless realtors close the door in my face because I didn’t have the credit. I had no one really to educate me in the process of purchasing a home or how to build credit. So I began to research and then I met my mentor and broker Woody Henderson. He gave me insight and steps that would eventually take me not just to homeownership but to a career where I can educate others. One day I was sitting watching HGTV and realized how many people want to purchase a home but don’t really no where to start. I asked him to mentor me and here I am today as a licensed realtor in the state of CA. It took a lot of prayer, sacrifices of time and money to be where I am today. I invested in school, coaches and resources that would help me along the way. Most of my clients both in the Daycare and in Real Estate just need a cheerleader. I have become that one stop shop. I like to call myself the marketplace minister. I allow God to use me to bring hope to people who felt hopeless. My testimony of what my husband and I went through is the clients we attract and how we are able to help them. We focus on telling clients there is no door there is just the amount of steps that is needed to get you where you want to go. Give me your why and I will help you see that you posses the tools to make it happen. In 13 years of business combined we have not just helped families to see that they can but we have developed relationships that we still nurture today. We have helped boost the confidence in families nation wide.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One important lesson you will learn on your journey is that no one can stop you only YOU can. This is the hardest lesson I had to unlearn. We can’t be the victim and the victor we have to see ourselves as royalty and know we posses the tools to be successful. Opposition will come but will you embrace it as a lesson or see it as a means to quit. You might not be where you want to be but if you press forward enough you will get to where you want to go. It may require sacrifices but discipline yourself to not quit on YOU.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Be your authentic self. When you try to duplicate others it won’t work. As a entrepreneur you are the face of your business. You will draw clients that don’t want just your product but they want the relationship of you. Being me has helped to establish who I am.
