Alright, Sema’j thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
You honestly shouldn’t have to ask your real friends nor family for support . If they wanted to they just would. But in the case that you do have to ask , don’t expect anything and definitely don’t expect yourself out of them because you , your friends , & your family are 3 different people ! Just support you if support comes from anywhere else be grateful but at the end of the day , support yourself .
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well readers I am CAPTUREYOBEAUTY aka Sema’j I am a photographer/graphic designer/web designer/ video gamer ! I got into the photography industry by learning more about photography while in Highschool then I eventually bought my own camera and started taking pictures of random everyday things till I advanced to capturing peoples beauty . I provide any type of camera work you need ! ANY I want to be a wide range photographer and people say that’s bad but I want to be versatile available in every single category “what can’t she do” vibes . Problems I solve for my clients have got to be finding their beauty my clients know they not ugly !!! But I also feel like some of my clients doubt just how beautiful they truly are inside and out and I feel like I capture that excellently! I am most proud of the work I put into my business and it only being 1 year old (turning 2 in may) and I’m proud of myself for not being stagnant I’m always aiming and going for MORE ; more content, more peoples beauty to capture , more everything! The thing that sets me out from most people in my industry is the fact I’m a 20 year old black woman . That says everything in itself ! The core people in my industry are older white males who are either boring or creepy im young turnt and melanin that puts me in a different category. The main thing I want my new clients / followers to know is that I will be on top very soon I will be a very well known photographer very soon hope on my train now , not later because once it starts (which it already has) it’s not stopping.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Firstly it’s Seeing my vision get brought to life when I recreate ideas I’ve seen & do it in my own way, another is when I create my own fire concept and it comes out how I envision it & I definitely love seeing the clients reaction to my work it can light up my darkest day
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Being a photographer that everybody gets to experience at least just once , capturing everybody beauty and making sure everybody feels beautiful because beauty is everywhere I just have to go capture it ! I’m not in it for the money; because that’s gonna come . I genuinely love doing what I do and putting smiles on people face , it makes my heart warm !
