We recently connected with Seles Pierce and have shared our conversation below.
Seles , appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
At 25 years old, I decided it was time to turn my passion for snowmobiling, racing, and the tight-knit community of Pittsburg, New Hampshire into something bigger—something bold. That’s how Back Lake Outlaws LLC was born.
For me, snowmobiling isn’t just a winter pastime; it’s a way of life. Growing up surrounded by the hum of sled engines and the thrill of racing across frozen lakes, I knew early on this world was home. But as a young woman in a male-dominated sport and industry, I didn’t always see myself reflected in the spaces I loved most. That’s why I set out to create something different. A brand and event series that celebrates speed, skill, and the spirit of the North Country—welcoming everyone, no matter who you are or where you come from.
Back Lake Outlaws is more than just snowmobile drag racing. It’s about building a community where people can push limits, support one another, and make memories that last long after the snow melts. It’s about bringing energy and excitement to Back Lake every season, and putting Pittsburg on the map as a destination for racers and spectators alike.
My mission is simple: to create a space where adrenaline meets community—where tradition and innovation collide—and to pave the way for future generations of racers, including young women like me who dream of taking the throttle and carving their own path.
This is just the beginning. Back Lake Outlaws LLC is about chasing big dreams at full throttle, and I’m proud to lead the charge.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi there! I’m the owner and founder of Back Lake Outlaws LLC, a snowmobile drag racing brand and event organization based in Pittsburg, New Hampshire. I’m 25 years old, and as a woman business owner in the motorsports world, I’m proud to be carving out a space for something I’ve been passionate about my entire life—speed, adventure, and the kind of community you can only find on a race track or out on the trails.
My journey into this industry started young. I grew up riding in the North Country, where winters were all about sledding. Some of my earliest memories are riding on the back of a snowmobile, feeling the rush of cold air and hearing the roar of engines on frozen lakes. Over time, I went from riding for fun to racing and falling in love with the sport’s competitive side. But as much as I loved it, I realized there weren’t many opportunities—especially local ones—that felt inclusive, exciting, and professionally run. That’s where the idea for Back Lake Outlaws was born.
I wanted to create a business and a brand that brought high-energy, well-organized drag racing events back to Back Lake, where racers of all skill levels and backgrounds could compete. More importantly, I wanted to create a welcoming, adrenaline-filled atmosphere that celebrated the community, the sport, and the thrill of going full throttle.
What We Do at Back Lake Outlaws LLC
At Back Lake Outlaws, we host snowmobile drag races on the legendary Back Lake in Pittsburg, NH. Our events aren’t just races—they’re full experiences, designed to bring people together for high-speed action, camaraderie, and fun. We offer professional race setups, clear classes for fairness, and a well-run structure that makes things smooth for both racers and spectators.
We also focus on building up the Back Lake Outlaws brand, offering apparel and merchandise that speaks to the rebel spirit of racers and outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you’re racing, spectating, or repping the brand in your day-to-day life, Back Lake Outlaws is about being bold, fearless, and part of something bigger.
What Sets Us Apart
Inclusivity & Community: This isn’t just a “guy’s sport.” I’ve worked hard to create a space where women, younger racers, and first-timers feel welcome. We’ve built a community where anyone with passion and drive can feel like they belong.
Professionalism & Safety: I’m committed to running clean, safe, well-organized events. As a racer myself, I know how important that is.
Local Roots, Big Vision: We’re deeply rooted in Pittsburg’s community but have a vision to make Back Lake Outlaws a well-known name in snowmobile drag racing across New England and beyond.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m incredibly proud of taking the leap to start this business at 25. It’s no small thing to step into an industry where women are underrepresented and to claim space not just as a racer, but as an organizer and leader. Seeing racers show up, families cheering, and people wearing our merch—it’s surreal. Knowing I’ve created something that brings excitement and energy to our town and gives people a place to race and connect is what drives me.
What I Want You to Know
Back Lake Outlaws is about more than racing—it’s about pushing boundaries, embracing adventure, and celebrating community. Whether you’re a lifelong sledhead, just getting into the sport, or someone who loves the North Country lifestyle, there’s a place for you here. This isn’t just my business—it’s a movement. And we’re just getting started.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
When I first came up with the idea for Back Lake Outlaws LLC, I knew it was going to take more than passion and big dreams to get it off the ground—it was going to take funding. From the start, I was determined to build this business the right way: by bringing the community together and gaining the support of people and companies who believed in what I was creating.
At 25, I didn’t have deep pockets or investors waiting in the wings. What I did have was drive, a clear vision, and the determination to put in the work. So I started pounding the pavement, reaching out to local businesses all over New England. I put together sponsorship packages that explained what Back Lake Outlaws was about—the excitement of snowmobile drag racing, the energy we were bringing back to Pittsburg, NH, and the chance for sponsors to get their name in front of a loyal, engaged crowd.
It wasn’t always easy. I spent countless hours cold-calling, sending emails, and showing up at local businesses with a folder under my arm, ready to explain why this was a win-win. I talked with sled shops, mechanics, restaurants, lodging owners, and outdoor brands—anyone who shared a connection with the snowmobile world or the North Country lifestyle.
And slowly but surely, businesses started to believe in the vision. Some were long-time community staples that saw the value in bringing big events back to Back Lake; others were smaller companies looking for grassroots opportunities to grow alongside something new and exciting. Every sponsorship we secured felt like a huge win because it meant someone else saw the potential of what we were building.
What I’m most proud of is that Back Lake Outlaws LLC was funded by the support of real people and businesses who understand the power of community and the thrill of the race. Their belief in me and my mission gave me the capital I needed to cover the costs of equipment, permits, insurance, marketing, and all the nuts and bolts that go into running a professional event.
Looking back, securing those sponsorships wasn’t just about funding the business—it was about building lasting relationships. These are partnerships that make Back Lake Outlaws stronger. I didn’t just raise money; I built a network of supporters who are invested in seeing us grow year after year.
For anyone wondering how to fund a business when you’re young and starting from scratch: be prepared to show up, tell your story, and ask for support with confidence. People can’t say yes if you don’t give them the chance to.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
For me, the most effective strategy has been building genuine relationships and creating experiences people want to be part of. Back Lake Outlaws LLC isn’t just about snowmobile drag racing; it’s about bringing people together and creating a community that feels electric, inclusive, and exciting. That energy is contagious—and that’s been a huge driver for growth.
One of the biggest game-changers has been word of mouth. When people come to our events and have an amazing time—whether they’re racing or cheering from the sidelines—they tell their friends. That’s the kind of buzz you can’t buy. I’ve made it a point to connect with everyone who shows up, to thank them personally, and to make sure they feel like they’re part of something special. That personal connection keeps people coming back, and it encourages them to bring more folks with them next time.
We’ve also leaned heavily into social media, especially Facebook and Instagram, to grow our audience and stay connected with our community year-round. Posting behind-the-scenes content, race highlights, and giving shoutouts to racers and sponsors helps keep the momentum going long after race day. It’s about building hype, sharing stories, and showing the personality behind the brand. People want to be part of something that feels alive, and that’s what we’re creating.
Another key strategy has been partnering with local businesses and sponsors. These collaborations help us tap into new audiences, and they bring extra value to our events—whether through prizes, raffles, or cross-promotion. It’s a win-win: we support their businesses, and they help spread the word about Back Lake Outlaws.
Lastly, we focus on running professional, well-organized events. When racers know they’re signing up for a smooth, fair, and fun experience, word spreads fast. I take a lot of pride in making sure our races are safe, well-structured, and exciting, because nothing builds loyalty like delivering on your promises.
At the end of the day, the best strategy has been staying true to our mission—creating adrenaline-filled, community-centered experiences that people want to be part of again and again.
