We were lucky to catch up with Selene Coccato recently and have shared our conversation below.
Selene, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I have always been a traveller, for 11 years I had a travel agency and when I changed jobs by opening a literary café I continued to travel and get to know different places and cultures. Every time I returned, friends and former clients asked me to tell them about the trip, not only the places but also the activities, restaurants and foods I tasted.
I have always loved learning about cultures in their entirety even by tasting local specialties and so I said to myself why not create a blog where I talk about my travels and everything I eat? This is how ViaggiandoMangiando.it (travelingmangiando) was born, which then evolved into a blog of ethnic recipes where, in addition to telling what I taste while travelling, once I return I also write the recipe and more…
With the column Around the World in 80 Dishes I experiment with dishes from unknown and distant places that I will probably only know through their dishes.

Selene, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The Viaggiandomangiando.it blog was born in October 2018. It is a blog of traditional ethnic (even Italian sometimes) recipes.
Every day a different recipe that comes from the world with original photos taken during travels, if I was lucky enough to taste it while travelling, or from my kitchen where I reconstruct the dish down to the smallest detail.
In the recipe I also tell the history of the dish and its country of origin.
Furthermore, I use my Instagram profile @viaggiandomangiando80 to collaborate with companies in line with my blog and my profile, who wish to advertise their products through my social profiles.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Consistency, attention to detail and professionalism are certainly the ingredients for growing through social media. Don’t improvise!
If you want to turn your passion into a job, if you are creative and think that social media is the best vehicle to publicize your work, be constant, precise and sufficiently competent.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Express yourself in the best way possible. Be original and don’t be afraid to bring out all your potential without worrying too much about always being understood or in line with current fashion.
