Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Selena Dupes Martinez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Selena, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I’ve been very blessed to have some great projects I’ve worked on this year. Got some more acting roles this year not just for me but my models as well. Bears on a ship, Splash City and Consumed. Had quite a few of my models casted on Splash City as well.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a model singer actress and have a team of models who I help find work as well. I actually got in the business trying to make some extra money in my spare time. I have two kids so it wasn’t always easy for me to have a full time job because I wanted to be present for my children as well. So I started modeling in videos when I was able to make time. Than I slowly started getting some of my friends jobs as well. Didn’t really expect it to take off the way it did but now I have over 100 models from the Bay Area, LA and Vegas. I think the thing that sets me apart is that I truely care for my girls and helping them get opportunities and seriously feel so excited to see them succeed. I also have been singing since the age of 5 and have been blessed enough to finally be able to put some time and energy into my music I’ve released 4 singles within the last year in a half. I definitely plan to release more and to be more persistent but I’m thankful I’ve been able to work on that as well. I also have a boutique where I make my own clothes as well. I really just enjoy creating and being able to have a platform where I can help other women and men accomplish their dreams as well.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I unfortunately have some health issues that can sometimes make things a bit of a struggle for me. I’m epileptic and have heart problems so there are times when I’ve literally had to be on bed rest and take it easy. I feel that this motivates me quite a bit to keep pushing and striving for my dreams and to help others because I don’t know when I may have to take a break from things. I definitely try to be persistent with my craft and business but am also learning when I need to take it a lil easy. I’m a hard worker tho so try not to waste time and do what I can from bed when I have these unexpected unfortunate moments.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me I feel very thankful for the opportunities and relationships I have made over the years. They have helped me in my own individual goals and also to help empower others. I get a sense of accomplishment for continuing to push thru no matter the difficulty’s that I’ve had with my health issues and feel so fulfilled to see the people who I help succeed as well. I don’t think a lot of people in our industry actually want to help others and just think about themselves and getting them to the next level. I feel so blessed for the growth that I’ve had this year not just individually but also for my team and how much they’ve accomplished as well. Being able to create is a amazing gift and is so rewarding to see the progress this year. I definitely don’t plan to stop and keep pushing not just for me but my team as well.
