We recently connected with Selasi Fredy and have shared our conversation below.

Selasi , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

Silsah Adventures is a combination of two names; “Sil” from Silasi & “Sah” from Sarah which brought about the formation of the Travel Agency SILSAH ADVERTISERS.

Selasi , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My story started when I was at the University pursuing a Diploma in IT, I was a Tech guy then but I had huge urge for adventure & travel, I remember one time I joined the politics club in university and I wanted to vie for a campus political seat and used all my strategy to get students votes, including organizing road trips, camping & wildlife safaris. After the trips students would become familiar with me and that made me win the seat at the students’ leadership board.

These trips became my daily routines such that when I’m not in the lecture halls, im out traveling.

Traveling became part of my life and I loved every bit of it, within 6 months of my University life, I had already visited all the East Africa countries; Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and Zanzibar Island in Tanzania.

After such trips, I came back and tailor made interesting Travel packages with fun activities and sold them to students.

The fun part is that both students and the general public in Kenya bought my travel packages and I was able to earn money for my upkeep.

Later I introduced my girlfriend to my dream and she was all in supporting me. Her name is Sarah Ndumia, we later decided to open up a Travel Agency which we named Silsah Adventures. SILSAH is a combination of my name and hers.

We grew from getting local tourists to International tourists.We advertise and get most of our clients from social media & Referrals from happy clients. We share a lot on our social media platforms which has made our name get out there.

Challenges, Yeah, well, It has not been a easy ride. There has been a lot of tough times like during the Covid 19 period, getting cancellations on bookings and all.

Above all we fodge ahead and continue making Silsah Adventures a travel Agency that is committed in providing you a hassle free safari in Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar. We believe travellers deserve to have needs taken into consideration to ensure getting an adventure that is memorable and trouble free. This is why we have fun filled pocket-friendly packages which work well in providing good services to our customers, we are obsessively passionate about travel

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

We met at a weekend camping trip we had both been invited to by a mutual friend, in Nanyuki at the slopes of Mt Kenya. She is a scout and the camping trip was basically a friend’s reunion where most in attendance were scouts.
We didn’t talk much then, and After the trip, we parted ways and later kept in touch after one year.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Mostly advertising on all social media platforms ,and getting referrals from happy clients..of course we always ensure each client leaves happy, it’s good for business😊
