Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Seida Abate. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Seida, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
For me, venturing into entrepreneurship has been one of the boldest risks I’ve ever embraced. I have always loved fragrance and since having my daughter, I’ve become captivated by eco-friendly alternatives for all things around the house. Despite having numerous ideas, the process of dedicating myself to manifesting my fragrance company has been an incredible journey and I am thrilled to keep moving forward.
I recall observing various candle and fragrance businesses, initially pondering whether the market was oversaturated. However, I chose to firmly believe that there is always room for another, recognizing that each business brings its unique style and narrative. This shift in perspective fueled the courage required to wholeheartedly invest in my endeavor. And I’m grateful that I did.
In this venture, I personally curate designs, develop fragrances, and devise marketing strategies to present my brand to the world. This company holds a special place in my heart, as it captures my creative vision and determination.
Ultimately, the risk-taking journey extends beyond reaching a destination—it’s a profound transformation along the way. It involves surpassing self-imposed limits, daring to envision beyond the ordinary, and, despite any apprehension, uncovering the incredible thrill of living life to its fullest.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! My name is Seida Abate and I am the founder of Njolie & Co., a handcrafted luxury fragrance and home decor company. All of our products prioritize sustainability and we are proud partners of One Tree Planted where a dollar from each purchase is donated to help reforestation all around the globe.
We have been operating for just a little over a year now and I am excited to see how far we are able to reach. My purpose for this brand is to help evoke beautiful memories for people all around the world and introduce them to an elevated luxury that is also eco-friendly. We live in a climate where everything is mass produced and consumed however at Njolie &Co., every product and design is created with intention. We support the production of responsible, enduring, and high-quality pieces that can cherish your memories for a lifetime.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Throughout my life, I’ve grappled with perfectionism, constantly reshaping my mindset to focus on achieving my goals. It’s a continuous journey for me.
I prefer to think that it originated from my identity as an artist, where I strive for perfection in every project. However, the roots of this tendency run even deeper. My parents migrated from Sudan when I was just 3 years old, exposing me to the challenges they faced in a new country with stark cultural differences. As a first-generation American, I felt a strong obligation to make the most of the resources around me, showing that the sacrifices they made for my family were worthwhile.
Life has had its share of ups and downs, but embracing self-compassion and pursuing endeavors that resonate with my sense of purpose has led me to substantial progress and success. My daily practice involves focusing on one goal at a time, acknowledging that imperfections and mistakes are essential aspects of the journey.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
For me, word of mouth stands out as the most effective source of new clients. The personal recommendations and positive experiences shared by satisfied clients not only validate the quality of my work but also build a sense of trust and credibility, creating a powerful network effect that consistently brings in new business opportunities.
I personally love to engage with clients and foster relationships. At Njolie, we plan to expand our reach by setting up shop at a few markets and conventions next year. Check out our instagram page to find more information dropping soon.
