Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sebastien Gibert. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sebastien, thanks for joining us today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
Honestly, I don’t take traditional vacations. When I do travel, I work remotely during the trip. I maintain my business operations by keeping my goals and ambitions at the forefront of my mind. I rarely step away from my business completely, even for a short break. My advice to entrepreneurs is to pursue something you are passionate about, as this passion will drive you and help you stay connected to your business, even when you’re not physically present.
Sebastien, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I entered my industry initially with my best friend, Rashad Rodriguez, who has since passed away. Rashad’s parents owned a clothing store in a prominent mall in Trinidad & Tobago, where we both grew up. As kids, we often talked about opening our own clothing store. After completing our studies abroad, we returned to Trinidad & Tobago and opened our first multi-brand store in 2012.
In 2018, we began designing our own clothing line. Our designs are unisex, with each collection encompassing its own theme and identity while maintaining the core DNA of our brand. My inspiration comes from diverse experiences, having been born in France and growing up in the multicultural environment of the Caribbean islands. Our unique identity allows us to resonate with a broad audience, reflecting the essence of Caribbean culture.
I am incredibly proud of building a brand from an idea and seeing it manifest into reality. What sets us apart is our ability to adapt and connect with various groups of people, embodying the true spirit of the Caribbean. I want people to know that THC is love.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
Me and Rashad are childhood friends. We went to the same primary school in Trinidad. We always did and wanted to do business ventures together.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
We sell on our website. The pros of this is that we maintain an identity to our brand and control it. We also are able to acquire more data and build a community behind our brand.
