Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sean Tajipour. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sean, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
The journey of turning Nerdtropolis from a simple idea into a thriving entertainment news site was a gradual and fulfilling process. It all began with a burning desire to embrace my inner nerd and share my enthusiasm for the world of entertainment. One day, I decided to start a Facebook page, where I began sharing my thoughts and insights on movies, Hollywood, and all things nerdy. The response from the online community was overwhelmingly positive, and this immediate feedback was incredibly encouraging. It made me realize that I had tapped into something special.
The next day, I was already brainstorming ways to expand. I decided to post consistently, engage with the audience, and ensure that the content I provided was both entertaining and informative. Over the course of the following month, I watched our Facebook page’s followers grow, and it quickly surpassed 85,000 followers, forming the core of our community. This vibrant online community, the “Nerdtropolis Citizens,” was instrumental in shaping the direction of Nerdtropolis.
As the year passed, I knew it was time to take things to the next level. I delved into the world of professional film criticism and celebrity interviews, honing my skills and knowledge. I worked tirelessly to transform Nerdtropolis into a full-fledged entertainment news site, offering thousands of articles covering a wide range of topics. It was no overnight success, but it was about making sure that every resource and moment I invested was used wisely to expand and grow Nerdtropolis. The gradual journey from a mere idea to a prominent media platform was a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and the support of an incredible community of fellow nerds and entertainment enthusiasts. It’s a story of steady growth, perseverance, and the realization of a dream that continues to evolve and thrive.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Nerdtropolis was initially created to battle click-bait articles seen across the internet. That form of journalism has always made it difficult for pop culture fans to get the information they want. I wanted to change the landscape of Entertainment News and provide a haven for fellow “Nerds.”
Since an early age, I have been a movie lover, and putting together movie reviews is what I really enjoy. My first reviews began when I was just 11 years old. I would walk to the nearest store to buy a VHS of the latest movie and post my review on the previously existing Yahoo Movies.”
I specialize in delivering the latest entertainment news with a focus on movies, including film/TV reviews, celebrity interviews, and movie trailers. I also delve into all things pop culture, from comics and music to video games and toys. My coverage extends beyond the usual to explore related topics that are sure to pique your interest.
As a member of the prestigious Critic Choice Association, I have reviewed hundreds of films and serve on the nomination committee of the Super Awards. I also host the Annual Nerdtropolis Movie Awards.
Just some of the folks I have interviewed are Neil deGrasse Tyson, Alex Winter, Orlando Jones, Erin Moriarty,, Jon Voight, the late Lance Reddick, Carlos Alazraqui, Kiersey Clemons, Thomas Haden Church, Chaz Bono, Art Alexakis, David Arquette, Pauly Shore, Tony Todd, Bai Ling, William Fichtner, Jay Chandrasekhar, and Tom Hanks. You can find all my interviews on Nerdtropolis.com or in Podcast form on Spotify, Apple Podcast, or anywhere else you listen to podcast.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Before Nerdtropolis emerged as a prominent entertainment news and media website, its journey began with the launch of a Facebook page, driven by a mission to combat clickbait and deliver quality content to the online community. This humble beginning found an eager and engaged audience, which played a pivotal role in driving traffic to the website upon its official launch. Through dedication and commitment to their vision, Nerdtropolis managed to reach over 3 million people worldwide, establishing a loyal and widespread following. The Facebook group grew at an astonishing pace, amassing over 85,000 followers, and it didn’t stop there. This thriving online community soon gave rise to the active Facebook group known as “Nerdtropolis Citizens,” boasting thousands of like-minded individuals who shared a deep passion for all things nerdy and geeky. This grassroots effort laid the foundation for Nerdtropolis’ eventual prominence in the entertainment media landscape.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe that my authenticity and genuine passion for the industry have been the key factors in building a reputation within the industry. From the very beginning, I approached the creation of Nerdtropolis as a fan, and I let my enthusiasm for movies and Hollywood shine through in everything I did. This authenticity resonated with our audience, as they could sense our genuine love for entertainment. It wasn’t about chasing trends or following a formula; it was about sharing my excitement for the entertainment world. The compliments and the success I’ve achieved can be directly attributed to this approach, and I’m proud that our authenticity has been recognized as a defining characteristic of Nerdtropolis.
