Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sean Kershaw. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sean, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think the most important thing about being successful is to truly understand what success looks like to you personally. Success is something that a person or a company has a clear understanding of and is taking the appropriate steps to accomplishing. I believe success is an ever evolving marker and can change by the week. For myself I define success by an over arching life that I want to live and having the resources to actively engage in this lifestyle all the while maintaining my integrity and beliefs without compromise. Our careers, businesses and monetary means are simply vehicles towards success in my opinion. For some success is material or monetary gain and sentiments. For others it is being able to get some time back and spending more time doing things that considered more important.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Sean Kershaw CEO and co-founder of Fresh N Clean Carpet Cleaning. I am a Marine Corps Veteran and had the entrepreneur spirit since a child. I initially got into this industry with the intention of providing my two grown sons a reliable and honest source of income. I realize the economic challenge in society in todays times and I want to do whatever I can to create something for my family. After creating the initial concept of the name, logo, core values, systems and processes I was able to identify quickly the potential of Fresh N Clean.
I wanted to make sure we are a company that lives up to our core values of T.R.A.C.E (Trustworthy, Resilient, Accountable, Courageous, Empathetic) and delivers a phenomenal service to our customers. We have HUGE plans for “FNC” but in all things we will not stray from the fundamentals that got us started.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience is one of our company and my personal core values. I was able to see the Merritt in my own resilience at an early age when I lost my Older Brother (murdered), Best Friend (suicide), and Mother (cancer) all within 3 years of each other. I was 12 years old when this tidal wave of tragedy struck my family.
I was raised in faith and it was in that faith in Christ that I found the strength and resilience to overcome. It did not stop there as a young adult I lost a few comrades in the Marine Corps to combat and suicide and spent time on deployments pondering my own existence.
What I learned through all of the hardships was that God has a purpose and a plan and though we may not understand the “why” of certain instances we can definitely gain “why power” and strive for that which is dear to us.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective way to build clientele is to truly care. Take the time and effort to understand the problem that your business can provide the solution for and make sure that the potential client knows you, likes you and trust you through building rapport and the integrity of the services you offer.
