Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sean Diamond. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sean, thanks for joining us today. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
I appreciate your interest in hearing about my recent innovative endeavors. This year has indeed been a thrilling one for me, filled with creative projects. One of the most significant innovative achievements I’ve accomplished is the production and direction of the 12 Hours Of BIPOC Music Festival at Nuit Blanche in Toronto.
This festival featured a unique concept with 12 opening acts and 12 headliners performing their music every hour on the hour from 7 PM to 7 AM. It was a monumental undertaking, and I’m immensely proud of how it turned out. Bringing this concept to life was a personal dream come true, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to showcase diverse musical talent in such an immersive way.
Additionally, I made my directorial debut with the film “Triggered” at the 12 Hours Of BIPOC Film exhibit, which was another remarkable experience. The exhibit showcased 12 hours of films, screened every hour on the hour from 7 PM to 7 AM at the prestigious venue, The Drake Hotel. In addition to “Triggered,” I also had the privilege of contributing as a Director of Photography, editor, and colorist for three other films: “Changi Kuri,” “Pretty Boys Don’t Cry,” and “Immature,” which premiered at the same event.
These projects allowed me to push my creative boundaries, work with incredibly talented individuals, and contribute to the vibrant BIPOC arts and culture scene. It’s been an inspiring journey, and I’m excited to continue exploring new avenues of innovation in the future.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I found my passion for multimedia when I enrolled at the Toronto Film School. It was a pivotal moment that introduced me film production and photography, and from my very first class, I knew I had found my calling. The school provided an environment where I felt like I truly belonged, surrounded by like-minded individuals who shared the same passion and tech language.
In my career, I’ve had the privilege of working across various multimedia disciplines, offering a wide range of services that cater to different needs. These services include photography, drone photography, videography, film production, web design, and brand development.
One of the key challenges I help my clients overcome is identifying their target audience and creating a strong foundation for their brand. I work closely with them to understand their vision and values, helping to define their identity and mission. By doing so, I empower them to establish a meaningful connection with their audience, which is crucial in today’s competitive landscape.
What sets me apart from others in my field is not only my technical expertise but also my genuine commitment to understanding my clients on a deeper level. I believe in the power of storytelling through multimedia, and I work tirelessly to bring my clients’ visions to life, ensuring that their unique stories are conveyed authentically and effectively.
One of my proudest achievements is my recent work in producing and directing the 12 Hours Of BIPOC Music Festival and my directorial debut with the film “Triggered” at the 12 Hours Of BIPOC Film exhibit. I’m here to collaborate, create, and make a meaningful difference through multimedia.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely, there is a clear goal and mission that drives my creative journey. My primary objective right now is to create my proof of concept for my new TV series Sincere City. This show is about showcasing a multilayered lifestyle highlighting the lack of prosperity and lack of infrastructure with resources. I wanted to show not only the challenges we face as a society by showcasing the Entertainment world. politics, street violence, and romance that happens within the city.
I believe that in the world of, film we have the ability to connect people, evoke emotions, and convey powerful messages. Through my work, I aim to create content that resonates with audiences on a deep and meaningful level.
One of my core goals is to amplify underrepresented voices and stories, particularly within the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) community. I want to use my creative talents to bring these stories to the forefront, challenge stereotypes, and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society.
Additionally, I’m driven to help businesses and individuals discover their unique identities and reach their full potential through multimedia branding and storytelling. By understanding their goals and values, I strive to empower them to connect with their target audiences authentically and leave a lasting impression.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative lies in the profound potential for transformation it affords. Through a delicate interplay of creativity, unwavering commitment, and relentless innovation, we have the privilege to challenge and reshape the established norms within our industry.
When we first step into this realm, we do so driven by an innate sense of what feels right, guided by an artistic compass that often operates without the certainty of who our audience might be or where our work might ultimately find its place. We live in the present moment, wholly engrossed in the act of creation, and it is from this place of pure authenticity that the seeds of change are sown.
To change the status quo of our industry means embarking on a profound journey of self-expression. It’s about pushing the boundaries of storytelling and inviting our audience to explore the depths of their own imagination. We aim to inspire, to provoke thought, and to contribute to a more vibrant and evolving creative landscape.
On a personal note, my aspiration is to craft timeless art that resonates deeply with people and endures the test of time. I yearn to create work that is cherished and appreciated by generations to come, while also playing a part in shaping the trajectory of our industry through the talents we’ve been gifted.
In essence, being an artist or creative professional is a harmonious blend of crafting enduring artistry and influencing the industry’s direction. It’s a journey that offers both personal fulfillment and the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the creative landscape.
