We recently connected with Sean / Crack Mathias / Sizzlack and have shared our conversation below.
Sean / Crack, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project that we have worked on was probably our album ‘A Working Title’. This was our first official release. This project came together when Crack & myself had gotten together to collaborate on a few beats. Crack had been producing beats since 2003 while I (Mathias) started working on music in 2007 as an audio engineer & producer. After working together previously on multiple projects without directly collaborating together we decided to finally link up and work together, which ended up becoming CLOAQxDAGGER as we know it today. This project was four years in the making, we used 4 different pieces of hardware to produce the dark and gritty sound (mostly an MPC 2000xl), the album features verse’s from some of the best underground emcees throughout North America. The project was recorded & mixed in my home studio in the South Shore of Boston, MA other than a few features & Mastered by Mindspawn out of Vallejo ,CA .

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
About ourselves: Crack Sizzlack started producing hip hop instrumentals in 2003 while Mathias started working on music in 2007 as an audio engineer/producer.
In 2010 we got together through an underground hip hop label Mathias & a friend had started called ‘Starving Artist Entertainment’ , the two of us had gotten back together to work in 2016 on what would become CLOAQxDAGGER.
Things that separate us from most others is the fact that we are 100% in complete control of every aspect of our music. We produce everything in house & Mathias records, mixes, & masters using a mix of outboard hardware along with digital tools. We cater to different types of emcees by creating an eclectic blend of styles in both production and mixing to push whichever emcee we are working with.
Most proud of: Getting our music played on radio stations such as Shade 45 by the legendary DJ Premier (Live From Headqcourterz) & by DJ Eclipse (Rap Is Outta Control).
We have also gotten to work with some of our favorite artists such as Ruste Juxx, Canibus, Esoteric, Guilty Simpson, Ransom, Napoleon Da Legend, & Spit Gemz.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Having our music heard and seeing the reaction that we have gotten from people all over the world, along with hearing from some of our favorite artists that they appreciate what we are doing.
