Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sean Carter. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sean, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
If I could start my entrepreneurial journey over with Urban Conscious, I would prioritize our focus as a production/creative services agency as opposed to splitting our business efforts between events, running a blog, and creating content,
One of the biggest hinderances to success for new business is spreading themselves too thin, trying to be too many things at the same time. It’s essential to cultivate focus early in order to build momentum and keep efforts efficient.
The pandemic forced me to refocus as a leader and consider what was the “MVP” for our business, our “Most Viable Product”, which was actually our creative services. Being able to serve other creatives was always the root of our business, and is something that allows me as an individual creative to make connections with other artists & businesses to create more opportunities. As a collaborative agency, it’s on me as the leader to find opportunities for us to exhibit our skills and help other artists to express their vision at the highest level.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Sean Carter & I am a creative entrepreneur from Las Vegas, NV. In 2017 I founded URBAN CONSCIOUS™️ as a creative production agency focused on serving independent artists in the fulfillment of creative work. As a collaborative agency, UC™️ brings together the creative talents of its network to deliver original experiences, products, & content, from events, to exhibits, to albums. We offer creative direction services, content development, event planning, and music production services.
I got into this line of work through a genuine passion to assist my creative friends in elevating their work and delivering high value content/products. I have always had a knack for composing ideas and developing production processes, so I decided to direct my efforts to creative work that would benefit the people closest to me. As an individual, my creative background includes music production, photography, and fashion styling. I brought my individual skill set and vision to collaborate with those I was inspired by. Since its inception, UC™️ has hosted 2 music festivals, numerous concerts, art exhibits, social experiments, talk shows, original merchandise, and iconic creative campaigns.
As the brand & myself continue to develop, I look to consistently evolve and deliver more impactful and socially engaging work. Our latest IG talk show series “CONSCIOUS CONVOS” seeks to provide context on various social themes and ideas that impact creatives. “Enrichment through entertainment” could be our motto, as we are looking to create engaging content that awakens the mind and satisfies our higher sensibilities.
In my daily work, I am a fashion consultant/stylist working with Louis Vuitton in Las Vegas, NV. I have been working in the luxury fashion industry for 5 years and have learned countless lessons that I transfer to my business with URBAN CONSCIOUS™️

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative for me is being able to bring a concept from ideation into reality, being able to execute a vision and deliver something tangible or experiential. It’s exciting to see a project be completed, to make someone’s vision real and something that others can interact with. It is a way of inviting others in, to be a creative is to be vulnerable & to help others understand you/humanity at a deeper level.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
“The Go-Giver” is a simple business allegory that speaks of the importance of giving first in order to cultivate business success. I recommend it to all entrepreneurs as a practical business philosophy that is focused on service first.
