We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sean Carr. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sean below.
Alright, Sean thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Turning my elopement photography into a full-time business has been a dream come true, blending my creative passions with the untamed beauty of the Pacific Northwest. It all starts with my love for nature—those misty mountains, cascading waterfalls, and endless forests that seem to whisper inspiration with every step. Exploring this region feels like stepping into a living canvas, and I get to capture couples at their most authentic, saying “I do” amidst towering trees or rugged coastlines. What began as a side gig snapping love stories over a decade ago has grown into a thriving business, fueled by my passion with chasing light and crafting images that feel as raw and real as the landscapes themselves.
The best part? I get to build genuine relationships with my clients, turning fleeting moments into lasting connections. These aren’t just photoshoots—they’re adventures. I’m out there hiking with couples, sharing laughs over muddy boots, and swapping stories about why they chose a cliffside or a hidden meadow to tie the knot. It’s about more than just the pictures; it’s about celebrating their love in a way that’s uniquely them, all while I geek out over the perfect golden-hour glow. Oh, and I can’t help but keep an eye out for Bigfoot—my elusive muse. I joke that if I ever catch him on camera, it’ll be the ultimate elopement shoot: Until then, I’ll keep weaving my love for the wild and my knack for storytelling into a business that’s as free-spirited as the forests I roam.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey there! I’m a Pacific Northwest-based elopement photographer who’s turned my love for nature and storytelling into a full-time creative business. I’ve always been a bit of a wild soul—growing up, you’d find me tromping through forests or sketching scenes from my latest outdoor adventure. Photography snuck into my life as a way to freeze those fleeting moments of beauty, and it wasn’t long before I stumbled into capturing love stories. It started with a friend’s wedding on a beach over a decade ago, and I was hooked—merging my obsession with the outdoors and my knack for spotting authentic emotion became my calling. Now, I specialize in elopement photography, offering couples intimate, adventurous sessions in some of the most breathtaking corners of the world, with a focus on the rugged charm of the Pacific Northwest.
What do I bring to the table? I provide full elopement photography packages—everything from scouting epic locations to delivering a gallery of images that feel like a love letter to both the couple and the landscape. I solve the problem of stiff, cookie-cutter wedding photos by creating an experience that’s laid-back, personal, and wildly unique. My clients get to ditch the big-venue stress and embrace a day that’s truly theirs, whether it’s a sunrise ceremony on a cliff or a quiet moment by a hidden waterfall. What sets me apart, I think, is my deep connection to the places I shoot—I know these trails like the back of my hand, and I’m not afraid to get muddy to get the shot. Plus, I’ve got a soft spot for local Bigfoot lore.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients—turning strangers into friends as we chase light. I want potential clients and followers to know that my work is about capturing real, unscripted love in the wildest settings imaginable. My brand is all about adventure, authenticity, and a little bit of whimsy—think less posed portraits, more “let’s climb that rock and see what happens.” If you’re dreaming of a wedding day that feels like an epic escape into nature, I’m your guy—just don’t ask me to stop scanning the trees for a certain furry legend.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Honestly, just being my authentic self and allowing the work to do the talking. I’ve never been much for show boating and love to just let me clients embrace the moments as they come. I think if you put those good vibes out you’ll get good vibes back and you’ll grow organically.
