We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Seamos Impertinentes. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Seamos Impertinentes below.
Alright, Seamos Impertinentes thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
When starting this podcast there were many things that worried us. Can we handle this? Will anyone listen to us? What if it results in a failed project? Eventually, there were many things that we couldn’t know until we decided, so we said fuck it, and started the project.
Of course, when we started, we had some issues, like who is going to learn how to record audio, who is going to run the social media profiles, or who is going to think the ideas for the episodes. And on top of everything, our personalities are remarkably different, and a project like this could either go very well or go south quickly ending in us fighting. Fortunately, everything went well and here we are halfway through our first season, with more than 15 episodes aired and available on YouTube and Spotify!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Before anything else, we’d like to introduce ourselves. We are a 57-year-old mother and her two twin (not identical) sons of almost 24 years old, who decided to make a podcast to talk about things that make us laugh, about memories and our way of thinking. Basically, about life. Frequently people consider us weird, freaks or “not normal”, and that’s why the name is Seamos Impertinentes (Being Impertinents in English).
Each of us has a unique personality, and that’s what makes the episodes dynamic and with different perspectives. Gina is positive, proactive, happy and has initiative. Jorge is a little serious, introverted, true to his principles and calm. Lastly, Arturo is irreverent, creative, a little intense and cheerful.
We do this project to show that the relationship with your parents doesn’t have to be so formal or boring. We are proud of being who we are, and we want to help people see that you don’t have to be a specific way if you don’t want to just to fit in or for other people to like you.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Something very important for us, beyond the recognition that the project may or may not have, is bonding between us. Seamos Impertinentes is a way of sharing memories and things that we don’t know about each other. Thus, we strengthen our relationship as mother and sons, but also as friends.
Besides, we want people to be able to identify with what we share or to encourage those kinds of conversations with your loved ones without it being a “special” occasion, because there are many conversations that you normally wouldn’t have simply because they are things that “are not talked about” or because they are things one normally doesn’t think about.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The most important thing that we had to leave behind are the ideas that only stop you when you’re starting a project like this. You don’t have to be young, be an expert or “have something important to say” to be able to create a podcast that contributes or entertains people. The value that a project provides doesn’t have to follow the steps of already existing ones. You can have a completely different project that is valid and entertaining.
