We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Scott Terranova a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Scott, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
One of the things that sets both Sound Precision Entertainment (SPE) and Cuff Link Media apart from the traditional wedding industry is our relentless focus on human connection, customization, and delivering a truly personal experience. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we’ve built both brands around the idea that couples deserve something tailored, intentional, and reflective of who they are.
Sound Precision Entertainment operates differently than your typical DJ or production company. While many in our industry rely on pre-set playlists and recycled routines, we take a collaborative, tech-forward approach to every event. Our couples are assigned a full-time planner from the start, not a rotating door of contractors or an impersonal email chain. Our team constantly invests in ongoing education, cutting-edge gear, and creative strategies that elevate the celebration rather than follow a formula. We’re not just pushing buttons—we’re creating an environment where people feel the freedom to fully enjoy one of the most important nights of their lives. I remember one wedding in particular where the couple asked us to blend Brazilian funk, Top 40, and early 2000s emo. Instead of steering them back to something more “traditional,” our DJ built a seamless, high-energy set that had the crowd on their feet all night. It was one of the most memorable receptions we’ve ever done, and it wouldn’t have happened if we weren’t committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s expected.
Cuff Link Media, our photography and videography division, is built on a similar ethos. Where many studios lean on mass-market packages and outsourced editors, we focus on consistency, storytelling, and deep relationships with both our team and our clients. Our shooters aren’t just freelancers showing up day-of—they’re part of a handpicked team we work with throughout the year. We’ve structured our schedule to allow for flexibility in our artists’ personal lives, which has resulted in happier, more committed creatives who consistently deliver incredible work. And we never apply “template” edits to galleries or wedding films. Every project is customized to match the tone, light, and emotion of that specific day. One moment that stands out was when a bride called us after receiving her photos to thank us for capturing a smile from her father that she hadn’t seen in years. He passed away shortly after the wedding, and she told us that those photos meant everything. That’s the kind of impact we strive for—honest, unfiltered, irreplaceable moments.
Ultimately, what differentiates us from the industry standard is that we care deeply—not just about the product, but about the people. Our companies are built on trust, creativity, and a refusal to settle for “good enough.” We know that our couples have a million choices, and it’s our job to earn their trust by giving them something unforgettable. That’s the difference. And that’s what we’re most proud of.

Scott, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Absolutely—this is one of our favorite questions to answer, because the “why” behind both Sound Precision Entertainment and Cuff Link Media is deeply personal.
My name is Scott Terranova, and I’ve spent the last 15+ years building two companies rooted in creativity, service, and an unwavering belief in the power of unforgettable moments. I started in the wedding industry as a DJ in my late teens. What began as a side hustle quickly turned into a full-blown obsession with production, storytelling, and giving people the best night of their lives. I founded Sound Precision Entertainment (SPE) to reimagine what wedding entertainment could look like—not just music, but an immersive, seamless, high-impact experience from start to finish.
As SPE grew and became one of the largest and most trusted entertainment providers in Northeast Ohio, we saw a need to provide the same level of quality and care in other areas of the wedding experience. That’s when Cuff Link Media was born—our sister company focused on photography and videography. We knew couples were tired of impersonal vendors, vague packages, and templated work. So we built Cuff Link Media with intention: a tight-knit team of creative professionals dedicated to capturing each wedding with authenticity and artistry.
Both brands share the same DNA—an obsessive attention to detail, a love of innovation, and a deep respect for our clients’ stories. At SPE, we provide professional DJ services, full production (sound, lighting, special effects), custom event enhancements, photo booths, and emcee work. At Cuff Link Media, we offer photography and cinematography services with a focus on emotional storytelling, consistent creative direction, and a personalized, guided experience from day one.
The problems we solve are rooted in what clients are most afraid of: being just another number, feeling misunderstood, or walking away with a product that doesn’t feel like them. We’ve flipped that experience on its head by investing in people first—on both sides of the equation. That means training our team to not just perform well, but to care deeply. It means building infrastructure that allows couples to have fun and be stress-free. It means listening better, planning smarter, and delivering work we’re proud to stand behind.
What sets us apart is simple: we take the time. The time to get to know our couples. The time to push boundaries creatively. The time to build a team that shares the same standard of excellence and heart. We’re not volume-based. We’re experience-driven.
I’m most proud of the community we’ve created. We’ve been trusted with thousands of life milestones—weddings, celebrations, family moments—and we never take that lightly. Our brands have grown through word-of-mouth and repeat clients because we lead with integrity and deliver consistently. We’re also proud to have created jobs and creative opportunities for incredibly talented individuals in our region, helping them build sustainable careers in a competitive space.
For anyone just learning about us, here’s what I want you to know: We’re not in this to be trendy, flashy, or the loudest in the room. We’re here to be the right team for the right couple. If you care about quality, if you want a vendor that feels like a partner, and if you value personality, heart, and professionalism in equal measure—we’re your people.
This isn’t just a job for us. It’s our purpose. And we’re honored to do it every single day.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building our social media audience has been a long game—and like most things that matter, it’s been equal parts strategy, consistency, and authenticity. When we started out, we didn’t have a full-time marketing team or a massive content budget. What we did have was a deep belief in our work, a ton of behind-the-scenes moments worth sharing, and a commitment to showing up online the same way we do in real life—with energy, passion, and heart.
For both Sound Precision Entertainment and Cuff Link Media, the audience really started to grow once we stopped trying to “sell” and started telling stories. We began showcasing not just our services, but the people behind them—our team, our couples, the real emotion on wedding days, and the moments that don’t make it into the polished ads. We used our platforms to celebrate our clients, highlight what made their weddings unique, and offer helpful content that engaged people, not just promoted to them.
We also leaned hard into local relevance. We consistently tagged venues, collaborated with other vendors, and gave credit where credit was due. That built goodwill and created a ripple effect—venues started resharing our posts, clients started tagging their friends, and our reach began to multiply organically. Over time, we saw the power of consistency over virality. No single post exploded and changed everything—but showing up, week after week, built a brand people could trust and root for.
If you’re just starting to build a social media presence, my biggest advice is this:
1. Start with clarity. Know who you are, what you offer, and who you’re speaking to. Every post should reflect your brand’s values, voice, and vibe.
2. Show your face. People don’t connect with logos—they connect with people. Introduce your team, go live, post behind-the-scenes moments. Authenticity wins.
3. Be consistent, not perfect. It’s easy to get stuck waiting for the perfect caption, photo, or reel. Done is better than perfect. Just keep showing up.
4. Engage with others. Social media is a conversation, not a billboard. Comment, share, shout out your peers. The more you give, the more you grow.
5. Play the long game. Building an audience that actually cares takes time. Don’t chase trends if they don’t fit your brand. Stay true to what makes you different, and your people will find you.
At the end of the day, our social media growth came from treating our platforms as an extension of the client experience. Real voices, real people, and real moments—that’s what resonates. Everything else is just noise.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What’s helped us build our reputation within the Cleveland wedding and event market has been an unwavering commitment to three core values: consistency, connection, and care.
From the very beginning, both Sound Precision Entertainment and Cuff Link Media were built with the mindset that we’re not just in the wedding business—we’re in the relationship business. That approach shaped how we treat our clients, how we collaborate with other vendors, and how we show up at every event. When people work with us, they’re not just hiring a DJ or a photographer. They’re getting a team of professionals who are invested in the outcome just as much as they are. We show up early, we overcommunicate, we adapt in real time, and we always put the couple first.
One of the biggest drivers of our reputation has been word-of-mouth referrals—from past clients, venues, and fellow vendors. We never took shortcuts. We delivered the same level of excellence at small backyard weddings as we did at luxury ballroom events. That earned trust. And that trust created momentum. It became common for us to show up at a wedding and see five or six couples whose weddings we had already done—or were about to do. That community, that trust network, is everything.
We’ve also been intentional about staying visible and involved in the industry. From vendor collaborations and styled shoots to venue relationships and client education, we’ve put in the time to be present, helpful, and reliable. We don’t see other vendors as competition—we see them as collaborators in creating something unforgettable for the couple. That mindset has paid dividends in credibility and goodwill.
Lastly, I think our reputation has grown because we care deeply about staying innovative and delivering more than what’s expected. Whether it’s debuting new technology, offering creative event enhancements, or rethinking how wedding photography should feel, we’re always evolving. That kind of forward motion not only excites clients—it positions us as a brand that leads, not follows.
At the end of the day, our reputation was built the same way our business was—one couple, one vendor, one event at a time. And we’ve never lost sight of that.
