We recently connected with Scott Saunders and have shared our conversation below.
Scott, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
One day my partner Dione Woods and I thought it would be a wonderful idea if we were to open a sports memorabilia and collectibles shop! We also thought it would be exciting for our store to be Kansas City’s first minority-owned shop of its kind! Along with top quality sports memorabilia and awesome collectibles, our shop also has plans on being involved with our community. We will also be introducing our “Good Grade” program for the youth! All the students have to do is bring in their report cards and show their good grades and get free gifts! We have plans of working with hospitals and visiting the youth that are there. As children, my friends and I all enjoyed collecting cards and different collectibles and I want to help introduce that same joy to today’s youth and generations to come!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Special events will be held quite often as well. Why may you ask? It’s because we love what we do! We will have autograph signings and other fun activities with all ages welcome to join!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Just getting started has been a long and rough process. In this industry you have to be pretty much proven and established as a shop for most distributors to work with you. Hard work and confidence has gotten us this far and we are blessed. Selling the best products is what we’re going to do and to get that done I will personally keep beating down the doors of the top distributors! It’s a daily battle but this business is our passion so we will never give up! Not having top quality products to sell really doesn’t make much sense to us.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I’m really glad that you asked me that question. Family and the community matter the most to us here at PKTC Collectibles. We want to build something the community can be proud of. The Community and family are everything to us and what better way to bring a family and the community together than sports and collectibles! Our personal goals for our shop are set high and we will stop at nothing to reach them. We’re excited to be here and it’s an honor to be a part of this community and serve this city!
