Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Scott DeHuff. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Scott, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
I’d say the oversaturated media market tends to stifle success with sales. With me being reliant on businesses wanting and needing a good platform for advertising, they can sometimes be turned off due to similar companies as mine that underperforme.
The majority of podcasts out there only seem to last a few months, then people realize it takes work to get people to listen. So people give up on it, but not before adding to the massive pool of podcasts and influencing the thought of, “oh, great, another podcast”.
You can also add to the equation, that some in advertising are still learning the new way of getting your business name out there.
Whether it’s understanding the always changing, but high potential of social media. Or in-pod sponsorships that have high impact for the advertisers.
All I can do is continue to make my product high quality in its sound, and establish an ongoing relationship with my listeners that’s based on honesty and humor.

Scott, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve been in the radio business since 2002. For 18 years I was with DenverSports.com, aka 104.3 The Fan.
I was a producer who would pop on the air to bring comedy to what ever show I was working with.
I contributed to former Denver Bronco/ESPN host/FOX Sports host/Chili slinger Mark Schlereth’s success on the station, as he and his co-host Mike Evans were constantly ranked the #1 morning show in Denver.
As the pandemic blindsided the world, it became clear to me that my family was in need of me to be more focused on them. So after 18 years, I chose to leave the success of the radio station.
The byproduct of me leaving, is my podcast. DeHuff Uncensored is a show I do 4 times a week, that focuses on funny headlines from around the world.
My objective is to give people a place to escape the negative cookie cutter media outlets, with something that makes them smile, and is laced with honesty.
Thankfully, Nate Lundy and the great people at Mile High Sports/Mile High Life put me under their umbrella, and help support the podcast.
This allows my brand to be exposed to amazing companies, and I can help introduce my listeners to their products.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I hate the idea of NFTs. It’s a sellers market.
All you as the buyer get out of the deal, is a receipt that says you paid for something that anyone in the world can get for free.
You may have bought the NFT of something, but as soon as I see that same image online, I can simply download it or screenshot it, and now it’s mine. And I didn’t spend a dime.
NFTs make no sense… unless you want to buy a NFT of me doing something. Then I’d be happy to sell it to you.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Honesty. Pretty simple.
While so many in my industry want to be a shock jock and say outrageous things just to get viewers, listeners, or likes, I’d prefer to lean on being me.
Yes, I say some stupid/funny things, but it’s who I am. I don’t pretend to know everything. Although… wait, no, I don’t know very much. Lol!
Anyway, my listeners know that I speak true, I’m not hate driven, I just want to spread laughter, and sometimes that means talking about hard subjects and finding the humor. It also means that I laugh at myself – something that more people should do.
