We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Scot Clayton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Scot below.
Scot, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
When I ‘retired’ from my Regular Gov Job, I needed something to keep my Creative Juices Flowing. I had been in Bar Bands, and Recorded in Studios, etc. so initially I thought I would simply build a small Recording Studio for myself, then Friends ask, and their friends, etc. Over 20 years later, I’m on SMC Studio #5, and Busier than EVER!

Scot, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I own and operate a Recording Studio. We do just about any kind of Recordings, from regular ‘Band type’ projects, to MultiCam Videos, ADR, Rehearsals, Albums, Singles, Small and Large Projects. I also run a Label, that some of my Clients release their Albums through.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
To let the Artist(s) bring their Project to fruition without too much ‘interference’. My job is to help them realize their Vision, without too much Control!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was ‘ReMastering’ Albums for myself, and ‘somehow’ one of my Friends ‘gave’ one of my ReMastering jobs to the Original Artists in Los Angeles. He called me up (I was initially terrified) and ask me to work on future projects with him. Things TOTALLY changed from that point on!
