We recently connected with SCARLETTE WIMBERLY and have shared our conversation below.
SCARLETTE, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
From the pit to the palace. My story is definitely one for the books. Here goes. Well let’s see…Where do I begin…In 2013 due to an injury that severely damaged the nerves in my upper extremities with strong concentration to my hands. I became medically disabled. I had to leave my full-time job because I could no longer work in the workforce. I was forced to medically retire with no backup plan in sight. I immediately prayed and asked GOD to give me something to do with my hands. I have been in business for eight years. At that time, both of my daughters were about to graduate, one from high school and the other from college. My daughter who was in college at that time was an avid MUA and had a nice Nikon camera that I’d purchased for her Christmas 2012.
Mind you she hardly ever used the camera. GOD put that same Nikon camera in my hands, I took photos of a bride (who was one of my daughter’s makeup clients) on her wedding day. The bride was so in awe of my pics that she wanted my pics to put in her wedding album. It started from there and PBS Photography and Media was formed. My photography business has flourished abundantly since then. In 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, I started live-streaming funerals in the Southwest Georgia area. Even today, we are still live-streaming funerals. I also started a women’s empowerment group on Facebook “Southwest Georgia Get Wined” and it has over 10K members and followers. In 2021 I started an online boutique – Cora’s Couture Accessories and More which we sell women and men apparel along with shoes, accessories, handbags and more. Also in 2021, I started another media business Southwest Georgia Media Productions. In this business, I partner with other local photographers, videographers where we film various projects.
My motto in business is “What GOD ordains, HE will maintain” and HE has done just that. I never had a passion to be a photographer so me being in this profession is something that I never fathomed. I am ever grateful to be here doing this. I wouldn’t take nothing for my life. I don’t regret anything that has happened in my life because the good and bad that has happened to me in life has molded and me to be the woman that I am today.
I have two beautiful daughters who are both college graduates. One is an Educator who is now pursuing her doctoral degree and my youngest daughter is a nurse and currently studying to become a Surgical Technician. I have one grandson who is my whole heart

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I specialize in photography/videography. I specialize in various areas of photography. I am a travel photographer as well. I have been afforded the opportunity to do international travel with a couple of travel agencies. I am most proud of my accomplishments, especially becoming a successful entreprenuer. I have been published in the New York Times, LA Times, as well as other magazines and news outlets. I have been nominated to Who’s Who in America (Professionals). I am set apart because I am my own competition. I strive to better myself versus being in competition with others. Actually, I will send potential clients to other photographers/videographers just so that it will give them more business. I love to help others in any way that I can.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I started researching the benefits of having an LLC. Once getting familiar with business credit, I took a course on obtaining and maintaining business credit and started building business credit. This process is very tedious and requires your undivided attention on a daily basis. You have to stay on top of your business finances in order to be successful financially in your business. Having good business credit has afforded me the opportunity to seek other business ventures with expanding my current businesses.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Life for me has NOT been a crystal stair. There was a time in my life where I made stupid choices that landed me in some dreadful places. I am over comer. I am very persistent. Instead of wallowing in regret, I had to put my big girl panties on, face the music and deal with the consequences. That process in my life alone gives me the motivation to keep pushing and not to stop. I strive for greatness and I won’t stop until I make it to the top.
