Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to SAYE GBALAZEH. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi SAYE, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I had the idea in 2016 and I put it on paper after doing nerf battles in the house and yard. 2017 I did a Team building event at one of Baltimore City schools and the kids loved it. They posted it on their social media pages and people started asking if I did parties. I did my research to see if there was anything like this in the area and came up with nothing. So I filed my paperwork and created On Target BattleZone a Mobile Battlefield. One year later October 20th, 2018, I bought my facility and started the renovation, had a soft grand opening on June 1st, 2019, and been busy by word of mouth.
SAYE, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
It hasn’t been easy. But with hard work and dedication, I overcame all obstacles. I created something that no one had seen before so I had to draw interest. I had to do a few free events to build up my profile. I’ve been in business going on nine years now. Everyday is a learning experience. I’m proud of my heard work and dedication, how I created something from nothing. Bring my vision to reality.
Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
When I got the idea, I did a free team building event for a local school in my community and everyone had a good time. From there I took my business to different schools, churches, homes setting up in fields, backyards throwing epic events. Within one year I was able to raise enough money to purchase my brick and mortar through hard work and dedication.
I’m originally from Libera, West Africa and decided to build my second location there. My goal at On Target BattleZone is to make you forget about your worries, bring out your Inner Child and continue to give awesome experiences
