We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Savaun Young a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Savaun , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The Best Way To Learn About Yourself Is Taking Risk, And Making Sacrifices To Put Yourself In Position To Never Have To Look Back. At The Time I Was Following One Of The Biggest Promoters/Marketers In The Music Business, His Name Was Carlos Brown, 1 Of The Biggest In The Game And Brought Us Artists Such As:”Yung Bleu, Rich The Kid, Migos, Lil Baby, & Many More”, I Was Having Consultation With Him At The Time And He Put Me Right On The Spot Like “Give Me Your Hardest Bar Go”……….& I Hesitated & Had To Learn You Have To Be Ready At All Costs, No Matter The Situation You Tap In To What You Love Most (MUSIC). In This Music Business From That Situation And Him Telling Me:”See If That Was Someone Else That Was More Eager & Hungry, They Wouldn’t Have Hesitated And Took Care Of Business” Since That Day I’ve Never Been Hesitant I Make Sure I’m Ready For Anything When It Comes To What I Love Most (Music). A Few Years Pasted and Carlos Had A 100 City Tour That Me & My Brother (MEM Stackboy) Were Blessed To Be Apart Of, I Raised The Bar For Myself By Doing Everything He Told Me Throughout The Few Consultations. I Took That Risk Not Knowing Where I Would End Up But It Helped Me So Much As A Artist & Now I’m On Tours, Over 100,000 Streams Across Major Music Platforms And So Much More! Ima Better artist, Business & Family Man, It Helped With More Than Just Music Also Helps Build Character! Thank You

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
“Everybody Is Not Your Friend”
Growing Up, Watching The Cartoons Or Lil Teenage Movies, You Notice Everyone Has A childhood Friend, They Grow Up, Become Grown Ups And Are Still Friends, But What You Will Grown To Learn Is They Leave Out The Parts Where They Have Fallouts, Cross Each Other, Be Spiteful And More. I Had My Bestfriend Turn His Back On Me When I Needed Him Most, But Once You Live & Learn You’ll Realize Family Will Change On You Too Not Because They Love You But Because They Know How Far They can Take Things! Know Your Worth and Know You Will Become Like The Ones You Continue To Hang With.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
