We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Savasia Vida a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Savasia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I would admit the name of my brand is a bit unconventional compared to most. You see the name WORTHYOPP. and I bet you’re already unsure on how to pronounce it. WORTHYOPP. (worthy /opp) is actually an abbreviation of the words “worthy opponent.” Fun fact, Worthy Opponent was the first idea for the brand name, but it felt too long– something about WORTHYOPP. spoke to me. The meaning of the brand name also comes from the idea that you can be a worthy opponent to anything in the way of your success. In a sense, I wanted the name WORTHYOPP. to serve as a reminder of owning your self-worth to overcome anything. It’s more than just a brand name, it’s a mindset.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Savasia Vida and I am the Founder and Creative Director of WORTHYOPP. Originally from Antioch, California, I’ve always wanted WORTHYOPP. to stand out in streetwear by having a powerful message behind it: own your worth, overcome anything. As a unisex brand, my journey began with screen printed t-shirts and has now evolved to include cut/sew pieces and one-of-one handmade designs. With every capsule, we celebrate individuality while advocating for mental health and self-worth. I personally want everyone who supports the brand to know that you are already worthy and our clothes are simply meant to compliment that feeling.
I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to showcase in New York Fashion Week earlier this year and am ecstatic to return this Fall! In building our global presence, I truly hope that the message of WORTHYOPP. resonates with the rest of the world.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Authenticity and consistency is extremely important in building your reputation. Showing your audience and peers in the industry who you are and what you represent in the most transparent way possible can help foster loyalty and build lasting connections. It can be difficult to stay consistent– especially through the hard times– but as long as you keep that flame of passion alive, you’re still on the right track. If you want others to believe in you and validate your career, it’s imperative to have this undeniable faith in yourself at all times. I’ve learned that how you feel about, treat and showcase your business can affect your reputation greatly so always make sure you’re representing your brand in the best way possible– no matter who’s watching.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Attending events, fashion shows and networking IRL have all been extremely helpful in building my clientele. Because the world now is so used to online impressions, we tend to overlook how important that face-to-face connection really is. You gotta put yourself out there in the real world to effectively grow and connect with real people — it’s that simple. It can be eye-opening to hear live feedback and see the reactions from potential clients that can motivate and inspire your future work.
