Becoming a professional photographer has been a journey filled with hard work and countless sacrifices. I poured hours into mastering my craft, learning everything from technical skills to artistic composition, often at the expense of time with family and friends. There were late nights spent editing photos and early mornings at shoots, all driven by my passion for capturing life’s beautiful moments. What truly fuels my dedication is the joy I see on my clients’ faces when they receive their photos. Their happiness is my greatest reward, a reminder of why I chose this path. Each smile and tear of joy reinforces my love for photography. Knowing that I can freeze moments in time and create lasting memories for others is what keeps me going.

My name is Savannah Wetch, and I am the owner and photographer behind Savvy Ray Photography, based in Houston, Texas. Photography has been a lifelong passion of mine, and it was my experience as a mother that inspired me to turn this passion into a thriving business. I specialize in portrait photography, offering services that include family, graduation, engagement, maternity, lifestyle newborn, sports portraits, and events.

What sets me apart in this competitive industry is my unwavering commitment to client satisfaction; I strive to go above and beyond to ensure that each client feels valued and happy with their experience. I take great pride in my bright and airy photographic style, which aims to bring each moment to life, creating images that resonate with joy and authenticity.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

When I first started my photography journey, I wish I had understood the importance of investing in quality gear from the beginning. A solid camera, like the Sony A7 series, is essential for capturing stunning images, but it’s not just about the body; having the right lenses and lighting equipment is equally crucial. Good lighting can make or break a shot, so investing in reliable triggers and battery packs is vital for seamless shooting. Additionally, a laptop with ample storage is necessary for managing and editing high-resolution files, and having plenty of memory cards ensures that I never miss a moment. Equally important is mastering manual settings, as they allow for greater creative control and consistency. Recognizing the costs associated with this gear early on would have helped me plan better, as quality equipment can be a significant investment but is invaluable for delivering the best results.
