We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Savannah Sevengey a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Savannah , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
Trends, that is what most of the fashion industry consists of! I find it quite fascinating that trends have such a influence on what we buy as buyers. As a seller or in this instance boutique owner, I notice and see a lot of fast fashion. One thing I try to integrate into my business is creating a capsule or versatile wardrobe.
The goal of Modern Drift Boutique is to create a year round style that is Modern and you can carry a long on any occasion and for many years to come.

Savannah , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Modern Drift boutique is a modern style boutique that specializes in color analysis. I Savannah, started this business at the age of 19 after my college plans had changed. In that we now have a store front in Michigan as well as a online shop as well. This year I also have received a certification as a color consultant.
That being said Modern Drift helps those express themselves through modern style and color. We carry sizes small-3xl for our clients as well in select brands.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I have found that building your reputation is important not only for healthy competition but to gain clientele. What helped me build my reputation was first off just taking a leap and starting my business. There is so many of us that have amazing ideas but we hold ourselves from it.
Another way to build a business reputation is being intentional with what products or services you provide. If we provide quality it is likely that the client will return or spread the word about your business.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me is probably the spread of business through word of mouth, being involved in events, and social media.
To sum all of these categories up, if you do not have a presence that you are working on always you will never expand and gain more clientele or following. Being in the location that I am I have tried to be involved, put on, or attend local events to spread the word of Modern Drift Boutique. Putting yourself out there has probably been one of the best ways to source more clients.
