We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Savannah Santamaria. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Savannah below.
Savannah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you manage your own social media?
With my business, I still feel like I’m at the beginning of this journey. So, for social media, along with every other aspect of running my business, I’m the sole creator.
With running my own social media, it can be challenging. It is time consuming and sometimes it feels like no matter what “tips” I follow my reach still is fairly low.
However, in time, I’ve come to appreciate the slow growth. It has allowed me to reach the people who truly love and support what I create, as well as hone in on my niche.
I would just suggest to keep showing up and trying different ways to engage and reach. Bring humor to your craft, as well as show your personality. (Even though this is sometimes something I struggle to make time to do.) Be authentic and people will flock to you

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Savannah and I started working with polymer clay in 2021. After having my daughter, I lost my job due to inflexibility in my schedule, due to childcare. At the time, I was also battling post partum depression. My whole world flipped upside down. So, I was looking for an outlet and my best friend, Becki, suggested I try polymer clay. She even sent me a little kit. Once, I started to work with it and create, it became my therapy and something I became passionate about. My brand first started out as Chic and Cheeky, however I didn’t feel the same really inbodied myself or my brand. So, I came up with the Edgy Boho, which describes me to a “T.”
I’ve been in 3 stores, as well as sold wholesale to stores around the country. I’ve been on countless markets in Atlanta and in the surrounding areas. Which I am very proud of.
I really work to connect with my customers because I feel like we are all a part of a bigger community. A community that loves supporting others, loves art and fashion and loves each other. Because this world could use more love and acceptance.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a creative business owner and maker, you doubt yourself daily. “Am I doing enough?”
“Is all of this hard work, worth it?”
” Why do I even bother.”
“Will I ever reach the sales and following that I have my goal set at?”
It’s hard. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. Owning your own business is hard. You are constantly thinking about what to make/sale, reaching ideal customers, how you can afford to keep going, how you will grow on social media and what you need to be doing. It can be draining. However, making sure to take a step back, is very important. Remember the reason you created your business. If you are a maker, make something for fun and let it remind you why you are passionate about what you create. Markets are also great, because you get instant gratification from people commenting on your work and supporting you.
Take it one day at a time. Work towards one small goal each day/week/month, to be able to make it to your big goal.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Being authentic and continuing to show up. Show gratitude and grace. Not everyone will love what you offer. Not will they always support it. But, smiling and thanking them anyways shows more about you than anything anyone else may say or do.
To show my appreciation to my clients, I offer freebies and try to package orders specifically for that person. Adding a personal letter, stickers and extra earrings to show my gratitude for their support. Not everyone can offer this, but I do it because that’s just who I am.
