We recently connected with Savannah Mares and have shared our conversation below.
Savannah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think it takes determination, kindness, willingness to learn & absorb information and hard work. You must keep learning new traits to be successful. You must surround yourself with knowledgeable people and you must keep going after everything you want, no matter how many times you fail.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Savannah Mares-Sedillo
I am a locally based actor & model in Los Angeles, in theatrical and commercial work. Beginning at the age of 8, I have enjoyed an extensive acting career, appearing in a range of commercial/film roles and genres. My various roles have included, femme fatale, ball busting girl friend, final girl, queen bee, teen outcast, and the girl next door. Developing long lasting, productive, professional partnerships are my driving motivations as an actor.
Within my time of being in front of the camera I have also now found new passions. I have started to direct, gotten into photography and set design. Being creative in any way is something that truly brings me joy and inspires me.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I believe anyone who has made it through the pandemic illustrates resilience. As an actress my career was hit hard and I lost all jobs that I had lined up and worked so hard to get. I had only lived in LA for 6 months when the pandemic hit. I had saved up my whole life for the move, was finding success and doing what I loved full time. I got the rugged pulled from under me and lost everything and didn’t get ONE gig for almost two years. I now work full time since I had lost all my income. I am finding my rhythm again in this industry and ready to continue to fight for what I love. I made it through the pandemic living in LA all on my own, I’m not giving up now.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being kind, respectful and open minded will take you far not only in life but in your career. I have made amazing relationships when on set and always want to be someone who is easy to work with. Which has resulted in being called back for future projects and being a great example on set.
