We were lucky to catch up with Savanna Jaynes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Savanna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
Working with hundreds of brides through the years, I have seen many trends come and go. But nothing compares to what I call the “trifecta”. They are Pinterest, Etsy and TikTok.
Planning my own wedding. I was able to budget and seemingly ‘cut costs’ using these endless resources of videos, photos and the most adorable wedding add ons. But as I was immersed in SO many options, decision fatigue became REAL! Being a professional in the wedding industry, I was amazed the power it had over me! I got to thinking; “If this can happen to me, how on earth do brides navigate the planning process without a wedding planner?” Since then, I have guided so many brides whom want a perfect but budgeted wedding through the endless pull to have more and more! Hiring a professional can help with the never ending ideas and budget for what is most important for your day.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Savanna Jaynes, owner and lead planner at Savvy Jane. I have been immersed in the wedding industry for over 5 years, working for the best of the best in Charlotte, North Carolina. I am culinary trained with a focus in baking and pastry arts, so my knowledge doesn’t just stop at design. I have been a catering manager, wedding cake designer and held my own at the bar during cocktail hour. Like I said, I LOVE this industry and I have been blessed to see almost every aspect of a brides day. I believe I have a different perspective than other planners when it comes to wedding day logistics and want to share all my knowledge with my clients to make their day flawless.
With this all in my tool box, I decided to go off on my own once I relocated to Northeast Ohio. I have packages that vary from Day of Management all the way to Full Service Planning and Design. I strive to bring brides peace of mind sprinkled with southern hospitality!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I would say the biggest pivot in life was moving from sunny, warn North Carolina to Ohio. This not only changes every aspect in our personal life, but my industry thrives on connections, partnerships and knowing your market. When all of this changes I had to relearn so much. For example, in the south absolutely no one gets married in August. The heat and humidity could bring you to tear, let alone the impact on florals, cakes and guests. Up here, this is prime time to have a lush, colorful, outdoor wedding! Nevertheless, I have been embraced by the NEO vendor community and cannot be more excited with what is to come!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Most people would think Bridal shows would be the one and only place to grow clientele, but I have seen a shift through the years. With social media becoming the superpower it is today, brides are researching and finding their vendors through the work they create and post online. I find most of my brides through social media or other vendors. Creating relationships with fellow wedding vendors is not only beneficial for us (hello, you have a friend at EVERY wedding) but we want our clients’ visions to come to life. So when I have client that would be perfect with a vendor, I play matchmaker! I am so thankful to all the vendors whom do the same for me as I grow my clientele in Ohio.
