Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Savanah Aguilar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Savanah , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Growing up both my parents had their own businesses and ran them successfully. My mother to this day runs her in home daycare, Nanny By Day, and my father was an independent contractor in construction. I feel like society pushes you into college and or the 9-5 job that kills your soul. My parents taught me self discipline, courage, hard work, and dedication can still make you successful even without a college degree. So glad I followed the footsteps of my parents of becoming my own boss and making my own schedule.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Hi! My name is Savanah Aguilar and I am the owner of Heart, Mind, and Soul by Savanah, LLC. I’m a Reiki Master, Certified Ganja yoga instructor, Soul Shifter, Mindfulness Specialist, and jewelry maker. I was the first to bring Mala workshops to my hometown in New Braunfels, Texas and have facilitated them from Austin to San Antonio and parts of the hill country. I recently had to hang up my aerial yoga silk as the jewelry side of my business has picked up. You can find me teaching infrared heated power yoga in Gypsy Waltz yoga studio in New Braunfels, Texas, along with my one of a kind hand knotted Malas. Yoga has been a huge tool in my life, especially my marriage. Yoga gives me an escape, brings peace of mind, and clarity all while building my strength and confidence. My power class helps connect heart, mind, and soul one breath at a time. Off the mat yoga has taught me discipline to face obstacles, stick to boundaries, and release patterns, people, or places that no longer serve me. I no longer resist change or fight it and instead breathe through it, accept it, and let it go. Opal & Onyx Bakery Co. in Boerne, Tx carries my hand wrapped crystal crowns, hand embroidered bandanas, crystal bracelets, and earrings. I do local pop ups and workshops around the area and offer custom or one of a kind intentional pieces that I make by hand. Forever grateful for the relationships I’ve built within this community, the raw and open conversations, and all the love.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I started off my jewelry business with my practicum for my 200hr RYT, Mala making workshop. I started facilitating workshops around the area and studios. It was obvious there was a hole in the market so people who had taken my workshop were now facilitating their own and went so far as going to the exact same places I had been. I even had a studio ghost me after agreeing to me hosting. In the beginning I felt betrayed and upset but quickly realized I was needing to shift, move away from Malas, and was pouring into the wrong people. I started playing around with wrapping crystal crowns, making bracelets, earrings, hand embroidery, essential oil rollers, and before long I was no longer bringing Malas to my pop ups and selling more. I made sure to thank and forgive those who had wronged me. For it was their lies and actions that made me move otherwise I was too comfortable to grow. Listening to my intuition more than ever has helped me align myself with those who are for me!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Transparency. I’m an open book to those who are worthy of my story, especially my step mommas. I keep it real. I’ve cried in my yoga class in front of my students and at a pop ups when sharing stories. I speak my truth even if my voice cracks or my breath gets short. I keep my word, give respect, and credit when due.. I didn’t step on people, lie, cheat, or steal to get where I’m at. I’ve been open about my relationship with plant medicine vs pharmaceutical drugs. I hold space for others and myself to feel and be. Most importantly, I remind those that they’re the magic!
