Savana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business had dual inspirations. Initially, it arose from my own frustrations as a consumer searching for stylish yet durable and budget-friendly gold jewelry. I was tired of constantly dealing with tarnishing metals after just a few weeks of wear, and I wanted pieces that could withstand everyday activities like ocean swims, workouts, and showers without losing their shine. The search for such a brand proved challenging as the market offerings fell short of my expectations.
Then, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, coinciding with the birth of my beautiful daughter amidst the chaos. This period underscored the need for a creative outlet that could also support a lifestyle where I could be fully present for my children. It was the perfect storm of personal experiences and external circumstances that led me to transform my idea into reality. I embarked on a journey to define my unique style, source durable materials, and navigate the delicate balance between entrepreneurship and motherhood, all while creating a jewelry brand that met the needs of consumers like myself.
This endeavor wasn’t just about solving a problem that many faced—lack of durable and affordable gold jewelry—but also about fulfilling a personal passion and creating a sustainable future amidst challenging times.
Savana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a 26-year-old wife and mother of a 3-year-old and an 8-month-old, originally from Nevada but now proudly Cali-raised since I was 8 years old. Life on the central coast is where I thrive, enjoying the outdoors with a passion for hiking, camping, and thrifting. My personal style is a mix of minimalist BOHO chic, with a love for neutral colors and, of course, gold jewelry.
My journey into the jewelry industry was fueled by a personal quest to find durable yet affordable gold jewelry. This led me to specialize in creating pieces using gold-filled materials. Unlike gold-plated jewelry, which has a thin layer of gold that can wear off quickly, gold-filled jewelry involves a process where a base metal is coated with a thick layer of gold. This results in jewelry that lasts much longer, making it a practical and stylish choice for everyday wear.
At my brand, I offer a range of gold-filled jewelry pieces, all designed to withstand the rigors of daily life without compromising on style or quality. What sets my brand apart is not just the durability and affordability of our products but also the personal touch and care that goes into each piece. I take pride in creating jewelry that not only solves a common problem for many consumers but also reflects my own love for timeless and versatile accessories.
I want potential clients and followers to know that when they choose my brand, they’re not just getting beautiful jewelry; they’re getting pieces that are crafted with passion, attention to detail, and a commitment to lasting quality. I’m most proud of being able to provide a solution to a common issue in the jewelry market while staying true to my style and values.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been vending at local maker’s markets. This platform has allowed me to make connections with other creators, engage with locals, and attract tourists, all of which have contributed significantly to the growth of my brand. I enjoy the opportunity to meet new people and showcase my products in a lively and interactive setting, making it an ideal avenue for expanding my clientele.
Any fun sales or marketing stories?
One of my favorite sales experiences happened at a market when an older gentleman approached my booth. He expressed a desire to find a beautiful necklace for his lover but was unsure of her style preferences. After browsing through the options, he fell in love with a particular necklace that he felt suited her.
What made this moment special was his thoughtful approach. Instead of taking a chance on the necklace, he decided to call his lover right there, showering her with sweet and loving words as he described the necklace and sought her opinion. Witnessing his genuine affection and the effort he put into selecting the perfect gift was heartwarming.
He then left briefly to meet her and returned with her by his side. They were undeniably the cutest couple, and his love for her was palpable. It was a touching experience that reminded me of the emotional connections jewelry can create and how it becomes more than just an accessory—it’s a symbol of love and thoughtfulness.
