Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sauniks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sauniks, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
The moment I knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally came during college in Pittsburgh. I had been DJing for fun at the time for college parties and such, but everything changed when I first heard Skrillex’s Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP. His music didn’t just open my eyes—it practically rewired my brain. I was blown away by the way he manipulated sounds, pushing the boundaries of what electronic music could be. Right then, I knew I wanted to be a part of that movement.
Up until that point, I had been experimenting with guitar and piano since I was 8 years old, but Skrillex’s music sparked something deeper. All those years of playing instruments were leading up to this. I immediately downloaded Ableton and just dove in, spending hours learning and attempting to create those kinds of sounds. It felt like the perfect fusion of everything I loved about music, but with limitless possibilities for creativity.
Shortly after I started putting my music out to the public, my songs started gaining traction, and I realized that making music could be more than a hobby—it could be my career. There’s something magical about being able to move people emotionally, not just on the dance floor but through intricate sound design and melody. From that point on, I was all in.

Sauniks, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Sauniks, an electronic music producer who’s always fascinated with pushing sound boundaries. I got into music at a young age, starting with piano and guitar when I was 8, but it wasn’t until college that I discovered my passion for electronic music. I started expressing this passion while DJing at college parties. It wasn’t long before I started producing my own songs, which eventually turned into a professional career.
As for what I create, my sound is all about blending melodic genres like house, dubstep, and future bass to craft something truly unique. What I bring to the table is music that goes beyond just getting people moving on the dance floor—it’s about making them feel something on a deeper level. I always focus on the emotional connection between melody and energy. Whether it’s a track for a label, a remix, or a live performance, I’m constantly looking to create an experience that sticks with people.
One of the things that sets me apart is my ability to seamlessly merge different genres. I’m always experimenting with new sounds to keep things fresh. I’ve had the honor of collaborating with some amazing artists, including a finalist on American Idol, and my music has even been featured on Hulu, which was a massive milestone for me. I’ve also performed alongside some of my favorite artists, like Jason Ross and Seven Lions, which has been surreal.
The thing I’m most proud of is how my music has grown from being a personal passion to something that connects with a larger audience. I want my fans to know that I’m constantly evolving and exploring new frontiers in music, but at the core of it all, I’m about creating music that resonates emotionally. I’m not just trying to make hits—I’m trying to make music that matters.
For anyone new to my music, I’d say expect the unexpected. I’m constantly pushing myself to create tracks that challenge conventions but still stay true to that emotional core that got me into music in the first place.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is knowing that the experiences I create with my music and shows can have a positive impact on people’s lives. I’ve always been a passionate fan of EDM, and I can still remember the moments when certain tracks or live sets resonated with me on a deep level. Those experiences pulled me into this community, and they’ve stayed with me ever since.
Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to give back to the community that has given me so much. Whether through my music or live shows, I want to create experiences that leave a lasting impact on people, just like the ones I had when I first fell in love with EDM.
That’s why the most rewarding thing for me is when fans tell me how my music has affected them. Whether it’s a message about how a track helped them through a tough time or how one of my shows made them feel alive, those moments are everything. Knowing that something I created has connected with someone on that level—it’s hard to describe how fulfilling that is. It’s what drives me to keep pushing forward as an artist.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One book that has significantly impacted my thinking is The Creative Act by Rick Rubin. While it’s not a typical business or entrepreneurial guide, it speaks to the core of what I do as an artist—balancing creativity with the demands of a professional career. Rubin talks a lot about nurturing the creative process rather than controlling it, and that’s helped me approach my own music-making with more freedom and openness.
This philosophy has also influenced how I manage my career. I’ve learned that creativity doesn’t thrive under rigid control, so I try to approach both my music and the business side with flexibility. It’s about creating space for inspiration to flow but also making sure the practical side of things—like planning releases, collaborating with others, and engaging with fans—supports that creative process.
Rubin’s insights have helped me realize that, as an artist, your brand and business grow best when they’re in harmony with your creative spirit. That’s been a guiding principle for me as I navigate both the artistic and entrepreneurial aspects of my career.
