We were lucky to catch up with Sauce Brady recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sauce, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first discovered my calling when I was in college. I graduated from Benedict College (Columbia, SC) with my bachelor’s in Mass Communication. While attending BC, I fell in love with being an on-air personality. My first movement was called Team Flat Radio. FLAT is an acronym that stood for Forever Learning and Achieving Together. I wanted to use my platform as a motivational platform to encourage my supporters to follow their dreams. I also wanted to provide the best playlist of independent artists, so I created a platform that combined motivational messages with good music.
That movement was gaining traction but out of nowhere it went dormant. It was during this time that I went through a period of depression. It wasn’t until I moved to Arizona and began to work in the Medical Marijuana industry that I regained alignment with my vision and that segued into The Role Up Podcast. I wanted to change the narrative around stoners and bring awareness to the positive benefits of using cannabis. One of the benefits that I focus on is using the plant to help with self-awareness and restore the belief in my supporters that no matter where they’ve been in life, they can always make the choice, today, to create the life they want to live.

Sauce, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Sauce Brady, The Host of The Role Up Podcast. I’m also a self-published author and mental health advocate. My platform was created to give listeners a “higher” perspective on the things we go through daily. I’m also the curator behind the “Gas Packs Only Club” movement. The GPOC is a spin off from #TeamFlatRadio where I focus on shining light to independent/ unsigned artists! If you’re interested in getting featured on the GPOC blog, music submissions to [email protected]!
I grew up, like many other people, allowing those close to me to dictate my life. I always had this gut feeling that there was more to life than working a 9-5. While there is nothing wrong with that, I wanted to use the life lessons that I’ve learned and encourage other people that it’s okay to forge your own path and live the life you want to live.
The Role Up Podcast has shown me that I am worthy of a second chance. That’s important to me because there was a time that I lost belief in myself. There was a time when the negative situations that I was experiencing caused a downward spiral in my personal life and it inspired me to begin my journey of self-enlightenment. Every episode of the podcast and the motivational content that I create are all experiences that helped shape me into who I am today.
My end goal is that I want to inspire everyone to follow their calling and use my life as an example that real miracles can happen. The success of my podcast has led me to believe that my story is important and I want others to know that their life matters.
Along with the podcast, I recently self-published a book on Amazon and Barnes and Noble titled, “Here’s The Truth”. Inside the book, are examples of how I overcame many adversities such as homelessness and how the journey to restore what was lost is 100% up to me.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I was doing #TeamFlatRadio, I realized that there was a contradiction in the content that I was creating with the music that I was sharing. I wanted my message to be consistent with the music I posted. So I took a 4-5 year hiatus to get back in touch with myself. It was during this hiatus that I came up with The Role Up Podcast. The logo that I came up with is symbolic of the real message that I am trying to convey. The white arrow represents the past and the Gold arrow represents us choosing to make a difference in any aspect of life.
Whether you want to start your own business, become a better person, spouse and etc , it’s 100% up to us to be both accountable and responsible for the way out life turns out. I want to offer words of encouragement to my supporting that it doesn’t matter what you look like or where you came from. What does matter is how we respond to what what life throws at us and encourages those who listen to see adversities from a higher perspective. Being aware of the situations we’ve encountered and the lessons they carry, are a huge reason is the key to elevating in life.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The main lesson I had to learn was that I had all the resources available to me. At times, we get caught up in watching other people succeed and forget that we are capable of achieving similar success. It’s the driving force in what I do because we hear a lot of the “blame the system” nonsense instead of taking full responsibility for how life plays out.
Unlearning the victim mentality and truly owning up to my shortcomings while transmuting the negative into something positive, has transformed my life in ways that I can’t imagine. The trajectory that I’m on is leading me to seeing the fruits of my labor. I want my supporters to watch my life transition in real time, so it can motivate them to take the initiative in their life to do the same.
