We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sat Purkh a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sat, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The best advice I give to everyone is to trust your intuition. It might be scary at first, but its important to learn how to trust yourself, even when your mind, other people, society says something different. Each persons life is their own journey and it takes courage to move out of habits and patterns that are not truly who you are or what you desire to experience. I had a client who at the age of 55 discovered she was gay. This was challenging for her as she had a lifetime living as a heterosexual, been married and had a child. She was terrified to come out. We did alot of work clearing and letting go of the past. This can be painful. Once she felt ready, she made her way to finding “her people” so to speak and has told me she has never benn happier. As she continued to do the healing work she found her voice, her love for her self and her gifts and gave up the opinions and negative projections of others. She kept finding herself through her intuition, her deep voice of her soul to guide her, and while she admits is as scary because she had to trust the unknown, trust what she desired was there for her, and have enough self love and self worth to keep taking those steps toward her fulfillment.

Sat, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I first came to the Kundalini practice as I felt my heart chakra was closing down after a divorce and I had no command over mind. The practices were simple. I felt a surge of energy after class, something I had not felt in months. The next morning I woke up happy for no reason. I had not felt that since I was a young child. So I just kept coming back. I had no intention or pre determined ideas about becoming a teacher or a trainer. I just felt better, my mind was clearing and I was able to sustain happiness.
I was fortunate to be able to attend classes and trainings, and the more I did the more I loved it and grew. ultimately this led to teaching. It was a natural progression to learn more, to grow, so I started to do trainings and it organically evolved. It does take discipline. There were many years of discipline, but the discipline was out of self love. The practice gave me myself and how to hang on to that, it gave me the ability to see my thoughts and feeling and respond, as to react to everything. It gave and still gives me my power. the power of self sovereignty and choice. choice to choose, and to take responsibility for may words and actions.
I teach what I know, through my experience, as i know it works. Many people think it is a belief system, there are many beliefs in it that you can agree with or not, but the tools and practices work if you are willing to apply them. Its a journey deep into yourself. What sets me apart from others is that I have an open mind in regards to the teachings. many people become fanatic and believe that it has to be done a certain way. I can encourage guidelines and structure for furure benefits, however i support everyones choice.
I am most proud of the fact that I have come as far as I have on this path. Despite all the challenges in my life and depsite how challenging these trainings have been. I have earned wisdom and freedom. It is available if one wants to do the work. There is so much to learn about life, that is not advertised. I am still human and I can enjoy my human-ness as well as be a spirtual teacher and guide. i am proud that I have never lost that, because many people do. Its not easy holding both, yet the teachings have shown me that path. I want people to know that your trauma, problems etc are your teacher. They never stop, and yet the greatest gift is to be able to handle them in new ways and door open that you never imagined possible. The mystical is here and can be lived in everyday life with humility and purpose.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When the stories came out about the teacher who brought these teachings and other teachers in this community, I had to dig deeper into myself. I had many reactions, to anger sadness, betrayal, etc. This helped me to detach from the teacher and receive the teachings. It helped me accept that everyone has gifts and everyone is human and has shadows. It also helped me forgive, and develop more discernment as opposed to judgement. These are very big spiritual teachings that one has the opportunity to embrace or not. I continued to teach because i believed what they have done for me and for others. I am grateful today that I did not stop because of others lack of spiritual integrity. It wasnt easy, and yet the process helped me become even more of the unique person that I am. I let others live, make their mistakes and give them the dignity to face whatever consequences arise due to their choices. Its not my business. I keep the focus on myself, my intuition, and do my best to learn from every situation I encounter. this attitude gives me incredible resilience.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
Yes I would choose it. Even though there have been times that I wished I chose something else, and i let myself. everytime I never felt satisfied. I missed the spiritual dimension and so i would always choose this path, because it always brought me back to my happy expansive creative loving space and very quickly, and that life without it was flat. Life with it is magical. i have tried and experienced other modalities and other spiritual people. I had experiences and yet i always came back to these teachings because it really gives so much flexibility and structure to develop yourself and stay connected to myself life and others.
