Hi Sasha, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I researched a lot of existing food influencer pages when I decided to start mine. I also researched a lot of different photo editing apps to be able to perfect some shots. I’m typically a visual learner. I just wish I became a foodie way before I decided to! Practice is key! As well as dedication. It can be tiring at times because being a foodie definitely is time consuming. It’s basically a second job for me other than my full time job.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I think growing up in a biracial household with two different cultures definitely molded me in to the ultimate foodie. I love all types of cuisines and try my best to showcase that! It warms my heart when I hear people have tried a restaurant because of my posts and recommendations. I also enjoy helping business by giving them tips on how to manage or grow their Instagram pages. I also make sure to post about place I genuinely enjoyed. I think that’s what sets me apart from some other foodies. I like to post about dishes that are not just pretty or trendy but delicious as well!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I made sure to engage with other business and foodie pages but it’s really important to engage with your all followers. Showing that you’re active will attract more followers. It’s also important to stick with a certain theme/niche for your page so it stays consistent.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I’m sure foodies get a bad rep as it is. I can’t speak for all foodies but not all of us are snobby and demanding. There are only a few out of the bunch. Most foodies I’ve met are down to earth and fun. Most are welcoming. It’s also a lot of work involved into making just one post. A lot of work I never realized before I was a foodie.
