We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sasha Johnson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sasha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you manage your own social media?
I manage not only my own social media, but other companies and businesses social media accounts as well. Social media, when used correctly, is able to provide businesses with an opportunity to connect to thousands, share knowledge, engage, provide value to their audience and community (including clients and future clients), and most of all it is a place to show your true authentic self. Whether you mean to or not, in today’s world, your social media IS your brand.
Everything you put out there is representative of YOUR brand. Social media is truly one of the most powerful tools a small business owner has at their fingertips. I do believe that if you don’t enjoy using social media and have the ability to outsource it, that you should. It is a lot
to handle alone especially when it’s not something you enjoy. Having a social media manager gives you your time back and you get to focus on your business and what matters to you most!
A key component to good marketing is knowing your target audience. Who they are. What they do. How they spend their money. What they do in their free time. It all works together as one.
Once you have a social media strategy, running your socials is all uphill from there.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Referrals and word of mouth have truly been my best friend and the backbone behind my client base. I have definitely gotten traffic from my social media advertising, but recommendations have done wonders for me! It’s amazing to see how much business a simple referral brings in. That is why when I have a client, I go the extra mile and put every thing I have into the work that I do for them to make sure that they really see results that actually improve their business. For example, when I manage your social media, I will always treat it like it is my own and put forth the work that I would put into mine personally! Building relationships and doing what I say I will do is so important to me because bringing results to the table is what will help me grow. When your clients are wowed from your work, they will rave about it to anyone who will listen. They will become your biggest fans, and the next time a conversation comes up and they know it’s something that you handle, they will throw your name out there with no hesitation! It will help you grow your client base effortlessly.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of what I do is seeing my clients dreams come to life, whether that be from us building their brand from the ground up, creating a logo, building their website, or helping them get the results they never thought they would see, just from taking the leap of faith of outsourcing their social media and trusting me to manage it. I take pride in getting businesses digital traction and seeing a vision turn into reality when it comes to a brand. Some days as a creative entrepreneur do feel impossible, but the big picture is so much more rewarding than it ever is limiting. My favorite part is that I build my own schedule so I can be there for my family when they need me and I don’t miss out on time with my children.
