We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sasan Tehrani a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sasan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The inspiration behind our brand name comes from my family’s last name, Tehrani. We decided to remove the “H” and give it a touch of Middle Eastern influence, reflecting the region where my family originally comes from. This name represents a blend of tradition and modernity, honoring our roots while appealing to a global audience. It’s a nod to the rich culture and heritage of the Middle East, and the values that have been passed down through generations. We are proud to share these legacy through our amazing dresses.

Terani Couture is a family business that has been around for 33 years. My discipline stems from my background in swimming, where I trained every morning and night. I was a Division 1 athlete, a level that was so competitive it could have potentially led me to the Olympics. My father has always been my biggest inspiration; from a young age, I witnessed his relentless work ethic, which shaped my own approach to business.
At Terani Couture, we design and manufacture all of our dresses in-house, ensuring the highest quality. We also provide a wide range of dresses for various occasions to retailers, who then sell them to the public. What I’m most proud of is the rich history we’ve built over the years, the dedication of our hardworking employees, and the reputation we’ve cultivated for almost 33 years in the industry.
We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.
Yes, we design and manufacture everything in China. Each dress is meticulously handcrafted, taking about three months to complete. Every client comes to us with a unique vision, and we take great pride in bringing those individual ideas to life.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
The biggest factor that has helped build our business reputation in the market is the 33 years we’ve spent perfecting our craft. Over the years, we’ve established trust and credibility, consistently delivering high-quality designs and exceptional service. Our longevity in the industry speaks volumes about our commitment to excellence and our ability to adapt to the ever-changing market.
