We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sarina Daniels a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sarina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
One of the biggest trends I am seeing is the sell of Seamoss and herbs. While this is a great alternative health solution to pharmaceuticals. I do not see too many sellers properly educating themselves and their consumers. I’ve had an ample amount of consumers come to me seeking guidance after they’ve gone extended periods of time consuming herbs and algae who have gone to the doctor after experiencing negative side effects and learned about traumatic health issues like tumors, blood clots, cancer, mineral deficiencies that were not present prior to choosing a more holistic lifestyle.
One thing I tell EVERY ONE of my consumers is to keep their doctors involved. We have been misguided when it comes to western medicine in this industry. This community has been known to preach completely voiding doctor visits, because “they’re trying to kill us”, and we rule out the fact that we have the right to refuse treatment. I always encourage my customers to go get their blood work regularly and have their doctors explain the results to them so that can personally curate a health care regime that works for them.
When purchasing herbs, please keep in mind that pharmaceuticals are derived from plants and can be just as harmful if not taken properly. Every plant has properties that cause the body to react differently. I personally suggest connecting with a certified herbalist that can assist with dosage and understanding when to take certain herbs so that they absorb properly and don’t counteract each other.
We at The Wholistic Market keep a list of resources that we provide the community for free. We have herbalists that we work with nationally. A tenured board certified doctor that practices holistic alternative wellness, accepts most insurances and offers telemedicine (remote visits). Now the services they offer may not be free lol, but we have personally vetted who we work with to assure that their services are convenient and affordable.
Sarina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Peace and blessings, I’m Sarina, owner of The Wholistic Market. Born and raised in Dallas, TX by a fully disabled mother. The Wholistic Market was birthed as a way to educate families with resources to live a more Wholistic lifestyle.
At the age of 12 my mother was diagnosed with Lupus before there was much information on the dis-ease itself. Unfortunately she became a Guinea pig to the pharmaceutical industry and about a decade in, when she felt she was too far gone we stumbled into Dr. Sebi and his lectures. Around that time my mother was battling with a subdural hematoma in her cranial cavity and in fear for her life she told me that my purpose in life is to ‘teach the world and show the world that there are other ways to heal the body more naturally’.
We started with a non-profit organization that connected the community with small businesses that aligned with the Holistic lifestyle in an effort to build community awareness and help those small businesses with exposure. Overtime the non-profit birthed a live vendor market and from that The Wholistic Market was birthed as a pivot, from the onset of COViD.
The Wholistic Market provides lifestyle products from hygiene to household products to help transition our consumers to a chemical free, eco friendly, self sustainable way of living.
What sets us apart from other Wholistic brands is our efforts to educate and always keep our consumers best interest in mind. It’s never more about the dollar than it is helping our community members find solutions to whatever is troubling them about their health and lifestyle.
What I am most proud of are our consumers success stories. From providing products that have helped reduced the side effects of cataracts, to providing coaching that has assisted people with ridding themselves of dis-eases they were told they would die with. The ability to share resources and knowledge with people that changes their lives is the most beautiful blessing of all of this. All from stepping out on faith, facing my fears and living inside of my purpose.
If you don’t remember anything please remember this. Our mission is to make Wholistic Wellness both convenient and affordable. The lack thereof was the demise of my mother very early in adulthood. If I can help keep families growing and thriving from a conversation that planted a seed and made people more aware of how they love on their bodies, I’m successful. The reward is seeing people grow old versus becoming victims of health issues that are curable.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Resilience for me has been sleeping in the car in 32 degree weather and getting up at 3am to make products and be at my job by 9am for an extended period of time.
Resilience has been hosting live markets for small businesses, using their vendor fees to by them food, pay for the venue, and not profiting just to stick to the mission of connecting these small businesses with the community.
Resilience has been spending 6 weeks at the start of covid researching ways to make The Wholistic Market an essential business so that our regular vendors can continue to have a live place to connect with the community and get their products sold.
Resilience has been operating off of 4 hours of sleep every day for 3.5 years to manage 5 businesses, be a domestic and bonus mother, a job and continues education to assure these dreams are coming to fruition.
Resilience has been starting before I was ready and never stopping.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What I think helped build my reputation in my market is being a live person. I have so many customers that have turned into friends.
Being able to talk to THE OWNER of the business and ask unlimited questions is border line priceless. Not only have we been open about how we operate in business. We also have done free consults that have helped grow some small businesses into 6 figure brands.
We wholeheartedly believe that every human on earth is a walking library, once they die all of that information is gone unless they shared it. One thing 95% of all of my customers know is that I am an open book. If I have the answers I share them, if I don’t I find them and follow up.
