We were lucky to catch up with Sarina Arzani recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sarina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was your school or training experience like? Share an anecdote or two that you feel illustrate important aspects or the overall nature of your schooling/training experience.
My dental school experience has been an incredible journey. This summer, I started seeing patients, which has been both exciting and challenging. Applying everything I’ve learned in real time feels like putting the pieces of a puzzle together. It’s almost like learning a new language—the language of dentistry. Every day brings new experiences and opportunities to grow, and it’s been amazing to see how my knowledge translates into actual patient care.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Sarina Arzani, a third-year dental student at Texas A&M with a passion for cosmetic dentistry. Originally Persian, my journey has taken me through the UK and Texas, shaping my vision for creating confident, beautiful smiles. Whether it’s preventative care or cosmetic enhancements like teeth whitening and veneers, my goal is to help people feel empowered through their smiles. I’ve had the opportunity to work with brands like Colgate, using my dental expertise to collaborate with other healthcare providers and promote comprehensive oral health care.
What sets me apart is my unique path as an immigrant and non-traditional student, which has taught me resilience and adaptability. Alongside my studies, I’m also a dental content creator, making information about dentistry more accessible and fun. Through my work, I aim to inspire others to believe in themselves, embrace beauty in every moment, and approach life with confidence—all while expanding knowledge about dental care in an engaging way!

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back, I would absolutely choose the same profession and specialty. Dentistry, particularly cosmetic dentistry, allows me to combine my love for art and science in a way that directly impacts people’s confidence and quality of life. The journey has been challenging, but each step has reinforced my passion for the field. Seeing the immediate, positive changes in patients’ lives is something I wouldn’t trade for anything else. It’s a career where I’m constantly learning and evolving, and that excites me every day.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
When I chose dentistry, many people told me it would be too hard and suggested I pursue something else. But I believed in myself and stayed focused on my goals. Through hard work and determination, I’ve come to love this path even more than I imagined. The challenges only fueled my passion and resilience. Now, I hope to inspire others to follow their dreams, no matter how difficult the road may seem—because hard work truly pays off in the end.
