Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sari Diskin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sari , thanks for joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I started my career in corporate advertising and spent a few years in account management. After my wedding and a big move to a new country (originally from Canada), I decided to follow my passion for working in health and wellness. I took a bunch of small jobs and got my certification at IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition). I sold my healthy baked goods in the lobby of my apartment building and started to put myself out there in the local community. I began sharing my recipes and wellness journey on social media. I slowly attracted clients and working with brands. At first, I would basically work for free and eventually learned my skills in my previous jobs were exactly what I needed to build my online brand. So I just went for it and knew that if it didn’t workout, I could always go back. I slowly moved away from health coaching and into content creation full time. I signed with management and have worked for 4 years building my brand and working with brands that are aligned with community. I create content around the things in my life that light me up and bring value to others. I hope to keep growing and expanding my offers. There is so much excitement in this career and I can’t wait to keep evolving.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Sari Diskin and I am full time content creator in the wellness and lifestyle space. You can find me mostly at @saridiskin over on Instagram / TikTok and at eatwellwithsari.com. I share tons of easy food recipes, real lifestyle content and my life as a new mama. I work with brands to create content that is highly aligned with my audience. Food brands, beauty brands, lifestyle brands, baby brands etc. I love to capture moments of my life and turn them into little squares that make me people feel inspired!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The online world can be scary and saturated and there are times it gets the best of all of us. BUT when it comes down to it, I find the ability to share real life the most rewarding. I can show up wholeheartedly as myself and in doing so connect and help others. Whether that is normalizing aspects of new motherhood, inspiring others to cook at home or making someone smile.. it is worth it! The power of connection, creativity, and true inspiration that comes with connecting through pictures, videos and text is something that keeps me going. I love it!

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I am a one woman show over here and when it comes to creating recipes and lifestyle content. Well, me and my tripod! When I first started I did know about all the resources out there for solopreneurs and content creators. Apps for creative editing and brand building like Canvas, InShot, CapCut and Lightroom. Business organization apps like Notion and Monday. I love using these tools to keep my content categorized, beautiful and to keep all my projects on track. I also took advantage of online courses and YouTube it learn new editing and social media skills.
