We were lucky to catch up with Sarai Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sarai, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Once I started college out here in Texas I had met a lot of students and friends who encouraged my artistic side and encouraged me to pursue tattooing to begin with. Also the college I attended was a work college so I was required to come up with a business plan for one of the clubs I attended. This motivated me to really think about what I wanted to do or how far I could take my own business if I really tried. This helped me come up with the foundation of my business and decide where I wanted to grow from that point. I think a lot of people did the assignment and may have left it at that, but I personally was inspired to take it a bit further and actually pursue what it is I wanted my business to be.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Infinite Artistry is Art without end, limits, or boundaries. I want to inspire myself and others to see the art and creation in everything. Often times I feel like the art aspect is overlooked when it comes to the professional world but I feel as though business and creativity go hand and hand and you can’t overlook one or the other. I’m learning to balance everything that comes with my business. I hope my work reaches the right audience and I find people who enjoy art and creativity in the same way that I do.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I have a hard time promoting myself constantly on social media but I feel as though certain platforms are definitely better for me when it comes to bringing in new clientele, While tik tok and other apps can be helpful I think the best source of new clients is word of mouth.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
My first time buying a tattoo machine was actually with the help of my old college roommates. They put in to help me order a kit off Amazon and in return they wanted me to practice on them. At the time I was only just beginning my journey but I was nervous to be doing something so real and so permanent and I had a lot to learn when it comes to sanitization, technique and the proper supplies to buy in general. I’ve come a long way from tattooing in my dorms to being able to start my own business and work with many professional artists at different studios. Once I started the rest was history. My next goal is to be able to afford to have my own private studio sometime in the future. I’m waiting for the right opportunity in order for me to pursue that.
