Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sarahi Pendergrass. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sarahi, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I believe that true success involves several key elements: clarity of purpose, authenticity, resilience, adaptability, and building relationships.
For me, clarity of purpose means understanding what truly matters. When I started sharing content about mom life and marriage humor, I realized my passion was in connecting with other parents who find joy and laughter in the chaos of family life.
Authenticity has been crucial as well. I remember one time when I created a fall activity for my kids, where they were supposed to pick up colorful leaves and place them in a cardboard cutout to make a colorful tree. But when it came time to do it, they showed zero interest—not even a little! So there I was, picking up leaves and crafting a masterpiece all by myself. That moment perfectly encapsulated the unpredictability of parenting and became a humorous story that resonated with my audience.
Resilience is also important. There have been times when a joke didn’t land or a video didn’t get the engagement I expected. Instead of getting discouraged, I learned to view these moments as part of the creative process. Each experience taught me what resonates with my audience.
Adaptability plays a role in navigating the ever-changing landscape of social media. I’ve had to embrace new formats and trends—like incorporating trending audio or trying out short, relatable skits about daily family life. This flexibility has helped me reach a wider audience and keep my content fresh.
Lastly, I’ve discovered that building relationships is key to success. Collaborating with fellow creators who share a similar sense of humor has not only expanded my reach but has also created a supportive community. We uplift each other and often share laughs about our parenting misadventures.
In the end, success for me isn’t about the number of likes or followers, but rather the connections I make and the joy I bring to others through my humor. It’s the shared laughter over the ups and downs of mom life and marriage that truly defines success in my journey.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a mom content creator who specializes in sharing the humor and reality of parenting and marriage. My journey into this space began as a way to connect with other parents and provide a lighthearted perspective on the daily chaos of family life. When I first became a mom, I didn’t have a strong support system; it was just my husband and my younger sister, who was still in high school and whom we’ve basically adopted. I was one of the first in my friend group to become a mom, so they didn’t really know how to help, and I didn’t know how to ask for it.
Postpartum was a dark chapter for me, and humor became my coping mechanism. If I don’t make jokes and laugh about the struggles, I’d end up crying—and laughing definitely feels better! That’s when I started creating funny, relatable content based on my personal experiences and challenges in motherhood. My goal was to make other parents feel less alone, to let them know that we’re not failing; we’re simply learning and adapting to a new version of ourselves.
I know social media can often feel like a place of comparison the moment you open the app. It’s easy to look at others with curated content and think they have it all figured out—the perfect activities, vacations, and spotless homes. But we often forget that what we see is just highlight posts. Not many people post about their messy houses, screaming kids, or what they truly look and feel like on the hard days.
While social media can be toxic if we focus only on the unrealistic side, it can also be a space for genuine connection. Supporting one another instead of comparing and judging is crucial. We need to remind each other that it’s okay to make mistakes and embrace the uniqueness of our parenting journeys. Many of us are generational trauma cycle breakers, raising our kids differently than how we were raised, and that can be one of the most challenging aspects of parenthood—reparenting ourselves and healing from the past.
Through my work, I create a variety of content—funny skits, relatable memes, and insightful posts that resonate with my audience, helping them feel understood and supported. What sets me apart is my authentic approach to parenting, where I highlight both the humor and the struggles. I’m most proud of the supportive community I’ve built around my brand. It’s incredibly rewarding to hear from followers who find comfort and joy in my content.
For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want you to know that my content is all about embracing the beautiful chaos of life. I aim to create a space where humor and honesty coexist, helping parents navigate their journeys with a smile. Let’s embrace the mess together and support one another on this wild ride!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience on social media has been an incredible journey rooted in authenticity and connection. I started by sharing my experiences as a mom with humor and honesty, which resonates with many parents who appreciate a real perspective on the ups and downs of family life.
Engagement has been crucial in this process. I see social media as a two-way street, so I actively respond to comments and messages. This helps create a community where followers feel valued and part of the conversation, reinforcing the supportive environment I strive for.
For those just starting to build their social media presence, my advice is to embrace your uniqueness. Let your personality shine through your content and don’t be afraid to share your authentic self. While consistency is important, remember that quality matters more than quantity. Focus on creating posts that genuinely reflect your passions and experiences.
Collaborating with fellow creators has also been a game changer. It introduces you to new audiences and fosters the creation of engaging content that resonates with both your followers and theirs.
Finally, stay open to feedback and adapt as needed. Pay attention to what resonates with your audience and be willing to experiment with new ideas. Building a community takes time and effort, but by nurturing genuine connections and staying true to your vision, you’ll create a vibrant and supportive environment around your brand.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my audience has been focusing on authenticity and engagement. From the start, I made it a priority to share genuine, relatable content that resonates with other parents. By being open about my own experiences, struggles, and the humor I find in everyday life, I’ve built a connection with my audience that feels real and trustworthy.
Engagement has also played a key role in my growth. I actively respond to comments, messages, and engage with my followers on social media. This two-way communication helps foster a sense of community where people feel valued and heard. I often ask questions or encourage followers to share their own stories, which not only boosts interaction but also strengthens our connection.
Additionally, collaborating with other creators has been hugely beneficial. Partnering with fellow mom content creators allows me to tap into their audiences, introducing my content to new followers who share similar interests. These collaborations often lead to fun and relatable content that both of our audiences enjoy, further expanding our reach.
Finally, I consistently monitor trends and adapt my content to fit what resonates with my audience. By staying current and being flexible with my approach, I can create content that feels fresh and engaging, keeping my followers interested and encouraging them to share my work with others.
Overall, the combination of authenticity, engagement, collaboration, and adaptability has been key to growing my audience and nurturing a supportive community around my brand.
