We recently connected with Sarahi Mena Enriquez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarahi, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Starting my business has been the biggest risk I could have taken. I was 22 on my last 2 semesters of college, majoring in Psychology, hoping to advance to my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. On the side, I had a passion that involved decorating of any kind. I was a bridesmaid in 3 weddings in 4 consecutive months and I fell in love with getting the bridal showers all beautiful, or figuring out creative favors for their upcoming weddings, or anything that allowed me to get creative in transforming a space. It wasn’t until those closest to me sought me out to help them with these tasks, that I even thought of this as a potential career. I had always known I was creative and loved LOVE and always greatly party planning. (No really, I was 7 years old when I started planning out my own birthday parties with the help of my most supportive mother). Although I loved it, I never thought it could be my career. I always looked at it as something fun, but nevertheless, I started an Instagram to show the free work I had done for friends to see if anything could come from it.
I was on my last semester of college, when all my guy friends would ask me to help them set up something romantic for their girlfriends. I was a huge fan of the reality show The Bachelor, so I just thought I would try to recreate something incredibly picturesque and romantic and I started doing picnics. This year, 2020, happened to be the year that Covid hit and rather than shut down the idea of these set ups, it boosted the desire for couples to want some type of normalcy and intimacy which my picnics allowed for. From there, I LOVED what I was doing, quit my job, and took a chance at my passion. I had so much incoming business that I never finished my last semester of college. I instead looked towards any certifications I can get while being self taught, and scaled my business to cover all kinds of events and the rest is history! The biggest risk of all!

Sarahi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am incredibly passionate about turning visions into reality, by using our gifted creativity! In creating, we are able to fully immerse ourselves to our deepest strengths, producing unimaginable BEAUTY.
Before starting my business, I found a great joy in making things with my hands, that would ultimately make others feel happy. Specifically for me, it was creating an unforgettable environment and vibe that would shed light into experiencing REAL joy.
Spreading that same joy easily became my driving force in creating The Divine Plan.
My services include PLANNING, COORDINATION, DESIGN, + FLORALS, for all kinds of events. My specialty is Weddings of all sizes. From Micro Weddings to 300+. I think that what sets me apart from others is that I can curate your event from scratch and provide you with all the services needed to make it happen. You truly do not need to look elsewhere. Your one stop shop if you will!
I am most proud of being able to scale my business to work with all kinds of people and of different budgets, and really get a sense of who they are as people. My goal is to get you and understand your full vision so that you too can experience joy in seeing everything coming to life!
To me, this never feels like a job. I am truly so blessed to be able to do something I love and make a living off if it. It is my greatest joy!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
JUST GET STARTED. I would post every last little event that I would decorate. If it was one floral arrangement, I would post it. A balloon garland, I would post it. I was consistent and didn’t worry about likes or followers. I just posted about what I was doing and the image I wanted to portray to someone who was visiting my page and seeing if they wanted to hire me. It was my own style, my own doing, and eventually the better I got, the more people were interested in the vision!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Social Media is super crucial for me. It is where I do all of my marketing and where people get to see the work that I put out week to week. It is also the foundation for where I get to easily communicate with my followers and audience, so it is incredibly important to me!
