Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sarah Weber. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sarah, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe success is different for every single person. That being said, I feel the overarching definition would be something that makes us feel fulfilled, energized and secure. A lot of times people think only in finances when the term “success” is thrown around, but to be truly successful, you need to feel fulfilled in all areas of your life simultaneously. So there are three parts to what I mentioned:
Fulfilled: Typically, this means something that makes us feel whole and good. In business, maybe this is the mission you are on to make something better for someone – this could be your clients, the environment or even your family.
Energized: Something you feel excited and positive about. So many people in today’s society hate waking up or hate their job or hate their relationship. We have to pivot and change directions to stay on the path that we FEEL positive about. Something where the happiness and joy outweighs – by far – the negatives. Because we also need to be grounded and realistic with what we are looking for and understand the life and people are going to throw us off sometimes and that nothing is perfect. It’s about understanding how to navigate through those curveballs and keep our eye on the ultimate prize.
Secure: With finances, this is easy. To make enough money where you don’t need to feel fear when it comes to spending. The actual amount is going to look different for everyone. Some people may need 50k to feel this, while others may need 200k+ to feel this way. With relationships, this involves emotional safety and security.
Sarah, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
YouTube: I have been on youtube for quite some time now, but only in the last 2.5 years rebranded and become consistent with it, posting weekly videos. My mission is to empower people to heal those things inside us that are damaged, so that we can use them for our benefit and growth. Emotional Intelligence is something I talk about a lot, because quite honestly, most people don’t have a lot of it or know how to develop it. When we learn HOW to heal and HOW to develop our emotional intelligence, every single thing in our life becomes more enjoyable. My channel is ultimately all about how to become happy and have inner peace through different lessons and deep inner work within ourselves. The most rewarding part of my channel are those messages I get where a specific video or even all my videos helped someone in some way – something that struck them and made them work on themselves so they could be happy. That it helped them understand their worth and happiness is not a lost cause. In a few cases, I’ve even had a few people message me saying my videos saved them from suicide. Those messages are what keep me going.
Real Estate: I have been in the real estate world for about 5 years now. When most people hear that, they automatically assume I am a real estate agent which is not true. For the entirety of my real estate career, I have worked in off market, otherwise known as real estate investing. While I am a real estate investor myself, the company I co-founded with two other partners is what I’m most excited about today. We work with real estate investors who are looking to offload their properties and find them a buyer. I like to call us the cupid of real estate investing, looking to help both the investors on the buying and selling side.
Acting/Modeling: I have been in the industry for over a decade and have gone through immense ups and downs. I have been published in magazines, stared in movies and even at my short stature have walked in New York Fashion Week 3 times. This industry is such a rollercoaser, but I have found since I took a step back from doing it full time and pouring into my YouTube channel and real estate, it has become a bunch of fun side projects. I love the creative side of this industry – being able to step into other characters when I act, and cultivating different ideas and looks for photoshoots. It is a FUN industry to be in but it also has a lot of challenges.
Have you ever had to pivot?
A big part of my life philosophy is being adaptive and able to pivot whenever needed. Sometimes we get so tunnel visioned and stubborn about the way we believe something SHOULD be, that we miss so many other opportunities that are presented to us. My friends and family have always joked that they never have any idea what I’m doing because I change directions so often. Most stubborn people would say that changing directions so often is a bad idea, but I am living proof that it’s not. If you never take risks, you’re never going to grow and see the rewards.
For example, I was modeling and acting for a few years after I graduated from college. It was fun and exciting but at the end of the day, I was unable to move out of my parents home and was far from being financially stable. An opportunity came along for me to sell cars – I knew nothing about sales OR cars. But I said screw it, why not? And that is the mentality I have taken with me since then. After selling cars for a little bit, I quickly became the top sales rep and even won a trip to Mexico. Shortly after that, I was offered a position to become the general manager at a branch of an international gym. With how passionate I am about fitness and nutrition, I thought this would be my absolute dream job. Boy was I wrong. I HATED it…and quickly I might add. The difference with me and the majority of people is that most people would convince themselves to stay, to push through it. But I have learned to listen to my intuition and know what is best for me. People tend to look at things not working out as a failure, but the way I see it is if you “fail” at something, it’s just some more knowledge that that thing is not for you.
So, I went back to selling cars for awhile, but the love I had for that wasn’t really there anymore either. As I’m doing that, I started a real estate business on the side with my partner, which ultimately failed. However, at the time of working to get that business off the ground, I happened to talk to someone at the gym who knew someone who knew someone, which landed me an incredible job at a real estate investing company in my area. So again, I left car sales, took a risk and went full blown into real estate, leaving my first business in the dust.
I learned a lot for years, what I did and didn’t like, how to navigate the industry and that has brought me to where I am today.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There are SO MANY. I am a sucker for self development in all kinds of areas – self awareness, relationships, manifestation, near death experiences, dreams and so many more. I think the key to self development is finding the things that truly interest and resonate with you. For example, I go through phases of thinks I’m interested in. For a few months I may be interested in manifestation and then it might take a turn to relationships and learning about feminine and masculine energy. From there maybe it’s learning more about nutrition and fitness. And I just go with the flow, again with whatever FEELS GOOD.
A huge factor in my philosophy around business and life in general has been hearing stories of near death experiences. At this point I have probably explored a few hundred of them. They remind me that life really isn’t as serious as we make it out to be, that our relationships with the people we love are the most important, and to do good for others and yourself. Adopting this philosophy will change anyones life.
My favorite near death experience book I have read by far is called Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander – a neuroscientist who experiences the afterlife that challenges all of the science he has practiced his entire life.
Light is the new Black by Rebecca Campbell is another incredible book – inspirational and spiritual – a guide to answer your soul’s calling.
The last one I’ll give you is anything by Neville Goddard. While Neville wasn’t the originator of the Law of Assumption, he is the most followed teacher of it today. A lot of people roll their eyes when I talk about spirituality and manifestation – which is fine – it just means they don’t understand it. The bottom line is, these things are real, and science is finally catching up. The thing I like most about Neville’s work is how he references the Bible. As a Christian woman, this is very important to me. If you’re someone who thinks manifestation and a lot of this spiritual stuff is BS, I instead recommend doing research on quantum physics, which is in many ways the same thing, but a little easier for those with a very logical mind to grasp.
