We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Terrill . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Hi Sarah , thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
In September of 2023, my vision to present a brand new three-part series of my artwork came to fruition in the form of my Night Of Abstracts Art Show & Gala event. This was an event I had envision three years prior. The plan was to host the event in 2020, but everything came to a screeching halt as a result of the Pandemic. I wasn’t sure at that point when I would do it, if I would do it or if I could do it. Fast forward to Spring of 2023 I decided that I would do it because it kept calling me. This event was going to mark my evolution as an artist. It was going to acknowledge the life journey I’ve been on and It was going to celebrate everything and everyone that walked with me, supported me throughout. The Night of Abstracts event would be one of the most meaningful events that I’ve curated to date. It makes me proud. It solidified for me that when I put my mind to something, that all things remain possible and I’m going to see my visions through to the end.

Sarah , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Art became the medium through which I chose to tell my story. Born out of a desire to inspire, to share my truth, and to ignite hope in the hearts of other dreamers, my abstract visions came to life.
Even in the midst of my roles as a dedicated mother, a grandmother, and my demanding full-time career, I never let go of my love for art.
I have defied all expectations with my unwavering passion for creativity. For more than thirteen years, I honed my skills as a self-taught artist, using painting as a release and a form of therapy during the darkest moments of my life.
My art is a collection of abstract paintings using acrylic on Canvas, various dimensions, where are often integrate mixed mediums to create texture and depth. I love experimenting with new elements and techniques.
My works are pure inspiration because when I began to rebuild my life in the face of a tumultuous and abusive relationship during the earlier years I found solace and strength within the strokes of my brush. I’ve never abandoned my love for art. Art became the lifeline that guided me towards self-discovery and healing, along with community groups and women’s organizations that also provided me with a safe space to rebuild my identity and rediscover my true self. I am grateful for the support I’ve received. I was able to transform my life and move forward with newfound positivity.
I aspire to empower others to never give up on themselves and to remind women that there is light at the end of the tunnel. It is my hope that my truth will resonate with others and serve as a beacon of hope, reminding everyone that they too can overcome adversity and embrace the beauty of their own unique journeys.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is sharing my artwork and sharing a piece of me with the world. Seeing my visions come to life on canvas is beyond fulfilling. It ignites me to just keep going. I am in constant interaction with the public and more recently, Ive been focused on centering my artwork in the commercial sector. Being able to get my work in public living spaces is part of my goals. I would love to be part of the conversation in not only beautifying spaces, but adding to the dialogue and exchange that people have in those spaces. I can see my artwork in lobbies, showrooms, event spaces, etc. I want to be part of making people feel good. I offer my art as inspiration for people to love where they live.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to continue to have my artwork out in the world for people to appreciate and make a living at it. My goal is to continue to be inspired by my life’s journey and offer inspiration and motivation to others who may often feel like they are not enough, or that their possibilities are limited by their circumstances. I’m here to let people know that we are born creatives. It’s within us. We just need to explore avenues of expression, whether it’s painting, like I do, or writing or dancing or singing. Bottom line is to be inspired to create something, make something, and then teach others directly or indirectly.
