We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Stieber. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Alright, Sarah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I was commissioned by Samsung to create a painting about my love for my then fiancé, now husband in celebration of International Day of Families. Our portrait was blasted on billboards in Times Square New York, Picadilly Circus in London, and on the Duomo in Milan. It was such a surreal and incredible experience, and made for quite the engagement announcement.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! My name is Sarah Stieber and I make joyful paintings and murals of empowered and fully-expressed individuals.
My vibrant aesthetic and community-driven ethos are integrated throughout my work. I have an expansive portfolio of public murals, tape paintings, art-inspired jewelry, and interiors.
I have created artwork for global brands including Topo Chico, Samsung, Penguin Random House, Marriott, Dunn Edwards, and Hilton. My paintings are exhibited worldwide, and have been featured on billboards in Times Square New York, Picadilly circus in London, and on the Duomo in Milan.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I believe that art is a human right, and my goal is to make my art as accessible as possible. I do this by creating large-scale public murals, and most recently, by opening my fourth- annual experiential art gallery.
I wanted to create a space that welcomes everyone through the door with an explosion of color, an enthusiastic hello, and a free Topo Chico. I’ve created installations, videos, an interactive art booth, and community events to facilitate an inspiring and inclusive experience.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
In college a professor scolded me when I put glitter paper on my painting, and now my entire art gallery is full of artwork I made out of cut and pasted glitter tape.
I was taught that you have to get a MFA and show with blue chip art galleries to be taken seriously, and I’ve built a rewarding art business without going to grad school and by representing my own work.
Once I realized that everything we are taught is just invented anyway, it freed me up to make my own rules. My art, career, and life became more successful, more creative, and more expansive when I started listening to my own inner voice.
